And I, as soon as the snow melts off of my deck, will be pulling out my grill and rubbing my face onto the thickest cut of steak I can find.  It's the circle of life, and all that...

If only there was a way to hook up to the internets without having to plug a phone line into a 14.4k modem. You should look into that.

Oh look... there it is.

The Sheep Luge:

I didn't witness this, my sister did. I had moved out long before this but my sister described it so well, and I know the scene so well...

Anyway, my family raised lambs for meat. We had a small herd of maybe 20 or so in a given year, and when the weather was truly bad we'd put them in the stable to huddle together for warmth.

After a particularly bad ice storm that slicked everything with an inch or so of ice Sis went out with her trusty Black Lab to let the sheep out into the paddock and spread some hay around for them to nosh on.

The paddock was at the top of a very long, steep hill. One of the sheep found a hole in the fence.

They lept through, hit the ice, promptly splayed out and went slowly spinning down the hill... "BAAAAaaaAAAAaaaAAAaaaa!" They spun down the hill, faster and faster, and managed to shoot through the gate between our pasture and our neighbors, probably doing 50 mph, baaa'ing all the way.

My sister looked at her dog, her dog looked at her... Both were thinking "Did we really see that?"

In the next few hours, the entire rest herd had gone the same way. My Dad and brother spent hours cutting a path to get them to come back up. They weren't interested. Sheep are sheep are stupid.

This goes a long way towards explaining why I was the first to move off the farm.

As they should.  They're not food.  They're what we ride on the way to go kill the food.  Mmmm....  dead food....

I like how some of them immediately try to settle grudges with other cows, no doubt caused by mooing wars over the winter months.

Did he, did he just moo louder after me? Boy, i can't wait to fix his wagon.
