These are just a few of the images we've recorded. And you can see, it wasn't what we thought. There's been no war here and no terraforming event. The environment is stable. It's the Pax. The G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate that we added to the air processors. It was supposed to calm the population, weed out aggression. Well, it works. The people here stopped fighting. And then they stopped everything else. They stopped going to work, they stopped breeding, talking, eating. There's 30 million people here, and they all just let themselves die.

Kidding aside, a year between tests doesn't mean the person didn't go "hey, those things were COOL." and spent the year using mushrooms unbeknownst to the researchers.

I'd take the "one dose" claim with a grain of salt unless the person was sequestered for a year.

Good set and setting and let 'er rip. If you have even the slightest inclination, it will benefit you.

I'd also add...  grinding the shrooms to pieces, then soaking 'em in lemon juice or even better, key lime juice.. let 'em sit for 15 mins or so. Then down all the liquid.

Eases the stomach upset, since you don't have to digest nasty fibrous shrooms, and it converts to the active ingredient with the acid. So down the shot and start your trip immediately....

I was pretty high pulling up to a drive-in window once. This is hardly a unique experience, but when I got there I had absolutely no idea what was expected of me. I haven't felt that self-conscious in years, and the whole experience made me feel a whole lot of empathy for people with low intelligence or learning disabilities.

Also, there's no way in hell I should have been on the road, and I don't plan to repeat it.

I find that very hard to believe. I haven't been able to watch anything on tv while tripping. Mostly, I just can't get interested enough to focus. Everything else seems far more interesting, especially the carpet.

About one psychedelic trip per year for about 20 years now (either molly or mushrooms).  Best experienced with groups of good friends.  It's like going to the gym for your psyche.

Psylence:  Pretty sure thats mescaline/peyote.

I've heard it applied to mushrooms too, but couldn't cite a legitimate source or anything.

They're definitely not for everyone.  In the handful of times that I've taken them the experience has ranged between profound and life changing.  There's definitely some therapeutic value, and I strongly support their supervised use as a means for gaining introspection.

Those nights, even looking back sober, are some of the best conversations I've ever had.  I saw myself from a perspective that allowed me to see things about myself that I had been avoiding.  Actively set about changing my life for the better the next day - even after the worst experience I had.

The thing to understand about mushrooms is that they aren't really a party drug and shouldn't be used as such.  They're a tool for getting to know yourself.

Wrote this for reddit 5 months ago.

3rd time eating shrooms. In Palm Springs, California in the summer when it is still hot at 2 AM and you can walk in the desert without fear of danger (mostly).

As the trip was winding down we all converged back at the house. We put on Planet Earth - Forests on mute and played a best of Beatles mix. Sometime around Eleanor Rigby, while watching the most beautiful image I have ever seen of a tree (HD was relatively new) I began to cry. And I cried. And I cried some more. Not sobbing, just streams of tears running down my face and I never made a sound. I was so overcome by beauty I couldn't stop myself. I couldn't look away.

I now see the beauty of nature in a way I never could before. I am more caring to animals and enjoy listening more - to everything. I am calmer and more rational. Some may say that was just a natural time for me to grow up, but I know the difference. I will never forget that experience.

Most people report a sense of conectedness to everything and that's very good. It shows your actions have consequences and lets you feel at one with things. A friend of mine put it this way: It's GOOD to have your ego broken every so often.

This is precisely why I want to partake.  Wish I had the friends or contacts in which to do so, and were able to do so in a safe, legal, and respectful way.

If these substances do as the article says, it's a crime to withhold what could be beneficial medical assistance.  But then, we don't care about healing people, only giving just enough help.

I can confirm the articles hypothesis. Shrooms (and weed) have calmed me down so much it's unreal. I used to get angry about EVERYTHING, not fighting angry, just angsty/pissed. After I took mushrooms 2-3 times I was able to realize my anger was holding me back, instead of fixing the situations that were making me angry I would just stop at getting angry. The shrooms allowed me to just let stuff go while living in the now

Yeah, see, I made tea like that once...starting a trip is definitely something that should be eased into.  Going from sober to holy shiat the walls are coming alive in the span of 30 seconds can be a bit unsettling

I've usually had very enjoyable trips with mushrooms. Sometimes, even kind of spiritual. Usually, I wake up the next day feeling awesome. I'm practically giddy thinking about what a great time it was. I don't feel like it has changed my life in any way, but it's been fun.

I would like to try them sometime when I'm depressed. And this thread reminds me that it's about time to find some more; maybe this summer.

I have to be quick. About a tenth of a percent of the population had the opposite reaction to the Pax. Their aggressor response increased beyond madness. They have become...well, they've killed most of us. And not just killed -- they've done things. I won't live to report this, but people have to know. We meant it for the best to make people safer.
