Not as silly as it sounds. As long as he regularly marginalizes and verbally abuses his wife, the comparison is apt.

Wow. That's..amazing. "Look, we think you're all disgusting subhuman filth and a good portion of would be ok with you being rounded up and shot, but tax cuts?"

Haha, you know gays.  It's like when you're married, you don't agree 100%... oh heh, yeah we keep preventing you from doing that.  Oh well, Vote GOP!

He believes that keeping gay people from getting married will prevent them from arguing with their spouse.

Well, if what your wife is saying to you that you don't agree with it "The kind of person you are is shameful and wrong, and you should make yourself miserable to try not to be that person because of my stupid bigotry", you probably shouldn't remain married to her, Rince.

/WTF kind of name is "Rince Priebus", anyway?
//sounds like an incompetent and corrupt lord from a Diskworld novel

I bet the Vegas odds for Rince getting busted sporting a wide stance in a truck stop/airport mens' room just exploded.

And he's ignoring that if the differences between a couple are significant enough and irreconcilable, the couple breaks up. Including over issues like whether the wife can maintain a career outside the home, how to raise kids, and whether or not the couple should get married or simply stay shacked up indefinitely.

Which probably all have analogous reasons why most gays should dump the GOP.

do you think these people actually BELIEVE what they are saying?
is it the case that if you repeat a lie enough that you start to believe the lie?

LOL

Rince Priebus.

I believe it's spelled Rinse Priebas, subby.

2013-03-22 01:41:15 PM
Hey, Reince-
We already have a gay-friendly party full of pro-business types.

We call them Democrats.

2013-03-22 01:41:24 PM
I would tell him, look, we might not agree on every single issue but, for the most part, if you look at where we are at in our economy and look at where we are with educational choice and our military positions and positions on a strong defense in our party for the most part, we agree on almost everything and doesn't make someone a bad Republican. It means we are good Republicans and disagree on one or two things. My God, I don't agree with my wife on 100 percent of the issues but it doesn't mean we don't have a great marriage.

Jesus H. CHRIST, what a f*cking jackass. This analogy would work if, for example, the Republican Party specifically had positions in their platform to limit women's rights and to create a patent inequality between the sexes.

Wait....

2013-03-22 01:43:04 PM
"The report notes that while Republicans don't have to embrace marriage equality or nondiscrimination protections for gay and lesbian people, "we do need to make sure young people do not see the Party as totally intolerant of alternative points of view."

We can do this by embracing marriage equality and nondiscriminatory practices. D'oh!

Rapmaster2000: Rince Priebus.

I believe it's spelled Rinse Priebas, subby.

i keep reading it as prince pridebus. Anyway, all i hear is "just because we hate you is no reason not to vote for us!"

what_now: Wow. That's..amazing. "Look, we think you're all disgusting subhuman filth and a good portion of would be ok with you being rounded up and shot, but tax cuts?"

And then the GOP wonders why they lose elections....

Yeah, my first thought was, "I wonder how great her marriage is?"

But his wording is inadvertently taunty. I don't think he meant to talk about how great his marriage is to people to whom he is active seeking to deny the right to marriage. I just think he's a dumbass. But probably not as big a dumbass as his wife for staying married to him.

2013-03-22 01:44:49 PM
Hey Ranch Prettybus, fark you.

the analogy works just fine. It's just that it is kinda dumb to mention in the response to a hypothetical question about gay marriage

Because the GOP is all about economic opportunity even if you might be fired for being gay think of the opportunity.

2013-03-22 01:47:02 PM
So, when folks disagree on gay marriage, it's the same as disagreeing on what color to paint the living room?

Did he really just compare support of gay marriage to a preference in paint color or what movie to see?

Hmmm... as a wealthy Jew living in Berlin in 1934 I have to say I like the "low taxes" and "restore honour to the fatherland" policies and I definitely like the "give us some living room" promise but their "put me in a cattle car and ship me to a concentration camp" policy seems like it would probably have a negative long-term outcome for me and my family.

Ah...what the hell.  I'll vote Nazi.

/what rinsed pubis is seriously suggesting
/godwin

2013-03-22 01:53:37 PM
If the policy weren't to marginalize the human rights of the group he's trying to woo, he might have a point.

You think we should spend more on social programs. I think we should spend more on infrastructure improvements. We have a disagreement, but we can certainly come to some agreement.

You think you should have the right to drink from the same water fountains as everyone else. I think you should be prevented from voting and be sold as chattel. This is not a disagreement, it is a fundamentally skewed power structure in which I am imposing the weight of law on you without regard to your human rights.

It doesn't matter if you agree with someone 99% of the time if the 1% of the time you are completely disregarding their humanity.

2013-03-22 01:53:43 PM
Totally, completely, breathtakingly clueless. The horseshiat that conservatives manage to convince themselves of is nothing at all short of what has to be an indicator for mental disability.

You just can't have your heads up your asses on every last farking subject and expect to be taken seriously. You just can't.

Some woman married Reince Preibus?

Was it an arranged marriage, Stockholm Syndrome, to stay in the country, or does he have a lotta money?

I think his wife should demand that he walk backwards at all times to save the marriage. Fark does she care if he was born to walk in the other direction? He should adjust or GTFO.

St_Francis_P: Not as silly as it sounds. As long as he regularly marginalizes and verbally abuses his wife, the comparison is apt.

Said it before, I'll say it again:
"Well, OF COURSE, I disagree with Hitler on his social policies, especially that whole Jews are subhuman filth that are the cause of all the Fatherland's problems, which personally I find VERY offensive,  but you have to admit he has some interesting ideas on taxation and economic stimulus which I can really get behind"- "Log Cabin" Jew circa 1938

2013-03-22 01:55:32 PM
Are there any conservatives (besides fiscal conservatives) who, on a macro-level, know that social issues are moving at a rapidly progressive pace? Is their seeming unawareness the result of moderate IQ or is it a desperate, grasping attempt to keep staunch social conservatives, no matter how bat-shiat insane, in under the tent?

2013-03-22 01:56:48 PM
When asked "Why would Latinos vote for the GOP?"

Rinsed Penis:  "The GOP is like a....a big country and regardless of your background or where you are from, you are welcome to be part of it...unlike the United States"

"The Bible tells us that you're an abomination unto the Lord.. which is what we believe.  So vote Republican anyway!"

What an asshole.

If straight guys have to deal with marriage, gay guys should have to as well. Equality in suffering under the law.

My God, I don't agree with my wife on 100 percent of the issues but it doesn't mean we don't have a great marriage.

No. Of course not. But I'm sure there are tons of other reasons you don't have a great marriage.

Yes, his first name is actually "Reincewind" but he shortened it since people kept jokingly nicknaming him "Rancid Prepuce".

Wait, they still do.

Yes, you don't have to agree with your wife on everything, but if you have completely opposite views on (for example) whether you're going to children or not, then you might be experiencing some tumult.

2013-03-22 02:05:14 PM
I can't read anything about this guy anymore without thinking about the Onion article about tricking him into saying his name backwards so he can get sucked into a different dimension. That was fricking brilliant.

My God, I don't agree with my wife on 100 percent of the issues but it doesn't mean we don't have a great marriage.

Just because it hasn't been spelled out yet in this thread:
Two Republican men would love the opportunity to find out how much their opinion overlaps with their husband's, Reincey. There's a clue there why the GOP doesn't have their support, and it's not their effective 15% tax rate.

2013-03-22 02:07:59 PM
Sadly, I have a hard gay friend who votes GOP.  To him, tax cuts for the rich (hes not currently rich but had a sugar daddy once) is basically all that matters.  He could care less the party here in Texas would love to throw him in jail for being gay, a minority, etc.
