(Hampton Roads)   If you're running for governor and your entire investment portfolio is in a company with a $700,000 tax dispute with your state, postponing the hearing until after the election is usually the smart move, unless you're the sitting AG   (hamptonroads.com) divider line 22

A $700,000 tax dispute...? That's it? That's what the fuss is about? since when did we start electing poor people who are concerned about such a paltry sum to public office?

I think the dumber move is to have your entire investment portfolio in a single company.

And less than 50k to boot. Hell, I'm only 6 months older than that guy and I have close to 250k saved up in my various accounts.

Yup, have to agree with both of you on that.  Let's see if anything actually comes out of this though.  I'm sure he'll force a stonewall from the AG office all the way through Nov.

I have about that much (well, a bit on the lower end of that scale) in my 401k, and I'm not yet 30 and probably make a lot less than Cuccinelli.

If that $50k in stock is his only investment, then It's less "an investment portfolio" and more " a big block of cash from a patron".  Be very wary of Polticians on the make who are also of modest means, they are the most corruptible and at the cheapest prices.

In "Kooky"'s case , I have a feeling he's got a huge amount of cash from other patron stashed somewhere, maybe in his wife's name.  Everytime I see this guy I feel like you can almost see the corruption oozing from his pores,  the right wing/religious zealtory seems like a front to me.  He just reads to me like a classic 80's televangelist-loudly praising god while looting the collection plate

In fairness to him, if he plays his cards right he'll never want for anything because some conservative think tank will hire him and set him up in one of their various tax free properties with a steady check so long as he keeps thinking what they want him to think.

It's going to suck when he's governor.

He seems like a nice guy with a lovely family.  His web site says he is against human trafficking.

What think-tank wouldn't want to have Kenny the Cooch as a hired gun?

I guess it's true that all white people look alike, because apart from the Cooch's Sloth face, I couldn't pick any of these people out of a lineup

How much for the little girl? How much for the women?   Your women. I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters... sell them to me. Sell me your children!

and to his credit he is, thhough Congressman Frank WOlf is the one leading the fight, with a few local churches on that.  And while I never like to cast aspersions, look closely at that family photo.  It might be just me but I get a very Duggar-esque vibe off that family. And the whole clan looks uncomfotably like some of the "holler" folk I see when I visit WV from time to time-the products of family trees with not nearly enough branches-the physical similarities between him and his wife are downright disturbing
