By this point, Coke should have a real sugar variant of their stuff available year round, like Pepsi does.

And no, Mexican Coca Cola doesn't count.

This. I live in the UK and drink Coke. I literally cannot drink the American Coke, it tastes terrible. The first time I bought a can and took a swig I thought it had gone off.

I just moved to South Dakota.  There's matzah in the supermarket.

Not-for-passover matzah.  Way to go, goyim.

If it's great for Chanukah, then it's gotta be good for Passover too!

Mexican Coke is superior in every way.  From using real sugar, to the 12 oz glass bottles.  It's available all over California too.  I don't see the problem here.

It really is better. Try it- that's what the Pepsi throwback is. Or mexican coke. Or passover coke.

And actually, no more teeth rotting than the normal stuff. And you actually feel like you've had calories after you drink it, which keeps you from guzzling too much. And the texture is different- it doesn't stick in your mouth quite the same way.
So yeah- try it. I don't think the pepsi throwback costs anything extra.

Yes, you are. But I'd avoid it, you'll be happier in life drinking HFCS Coke only and never knowing what you are missing.

Really it's the throwback Dr Pepper I love the most, or Dublin Dr Pepper. Unsure if they are the same flavor, have had both, but not to taste them side by side, heh.

Quite ironic too, as the American South was the most upset by New Coke that dared messed with a regional institution. (Many claim "New Coke" was a backdoor way to sneek HFCS in by making people forget what real Coca-cola tastes like).

Luckily there is a large enough Latino population where I live that real sugar coke (available in glass bottles), is available year round.

Actually, it is much more likely to rot your teeth, as HFCS doesn't harm your teeth (but is more likely to cause obesity and diabetes). You're dead on about the texture, I've noticed anything with HFCS seems too thick, and wants to hang out in my throat and give me phlegm. Drinks with real sugar don't do that.

Only not kosher for Passover. Google "kitniyot" to learn more about it, too lazy to type it all out this late on my tablet....

I've switched to drinking hippy healthfood store Blue Sky soda and the Mexican brand Jarritos because they're non-HFCS soda that's a heck of a lot easier to find than Mexican Coke.

Like that time they had to hear that story about how they used to be slaves in Egypt and believed it.

Okay, just so I'm clear, the rest of us, in other states, will still be able to get our cancer causing versions?  (I've still got a few bottles of Cranberry Sierra Mist set aside from my holiday stash, but that won't last too much longer.  Once the summer gets here I'll be making CSM Floats.  I need my real sugar coke and the last time I Googled Mexican Coke some DEA agents showed up at my front door.)

Why, pray tell wouldnt it count ? You do realise that the product is made worldwide, right ?
I sell about a case a week, its about 50/50 brown folks / white folks who buy it.

Doesn't count because distribution is pretty unpredictable. Pepsi throwback is pretty much everywhere normal pepsi is. Mexican coke is, in many places, impossible to find.

It is kinda ridiculous that crystallized sugar extract from tubers or cane is ok for Passover but sugar syrup extracted from kernels of a large plant stalks is not OK.

It's even more so when you consider that the point is to avoid leavened grains.

Seriously. It seems like overkill.

Yes. But you won't notice anything until you drink cane-sugar Coke for a while and then go back to US Coke.
It's a goddamn shock, I tell you. Nasty, nasty stuff.

Passover Kosher is a subset, per say, of extra dietary restrictions that only happen over Passover. Many grains are forbidden at this time if they have leaven in them. Matzo is made from these grains but Passover Kosher matzo is watched to make sure the dough doesn't rise after water is added and is baked within 18-24 minutes later.

Basically, bread can't be allowed to rise. When Pharaoh kicked the Jews out, they had to take their unrisen bread and scoot. They do this to remember.

Coke actually has different formulations for different countries even just aside from whether it uses sugar or not.
I don't know for sure whether the UK's version is different other than the sweetener it uses, but it is a possibility.

I don't think our regular Coke is bad, in fact I love the stuff.  I do absolutely prefer the real sugar version, though.  With luck we'll quit subsidizing the corn market so much, drive up the price of HFCS, and switch back to real sugar syrup for our soda-sweetening needs.

The hilarious thing is that corn and sugarcane are both basically just grass.
They're very closely related, and are even in the same subfamily/tribe.

Well, all one has to do is ask. I will paint with a broad brush here, but it will make sense.
Latino folks like things from home. Folks who want to make money know this, so they carry a lot of those things. . I am talking about wholesale to store distributors in major population centres. Not Bumfark, ND.
Your bio says DC, FNB has a joke entry. Go to a liquor store and ask for it. It helps if you promise to buy the whole case the first time. Or, try the local market- even if its a chain, if enough folks ask for something it will show up.
Thats why I crry it- someone asked for it, I found 3 sources for it besides my coke dealer, and went with the best price. Best price was from a Latino company, not coke. Which upset coke salesguy so much he went off on a tirade at me and the daytime folks for not buying from him. He got fired the next day.

My point ? Stores can get just about anything, but they wont just order something for the hell of it. Folks have to ask for it. ( that statement is invalid for odd beers and my store- I brought in Icelandic beers due to the taste and knowing I could sell it ) .

Yes, you are. Since having a hecho en mexico coke, I rarely drink soda's that have HFCS in them. The taste is just... better. Try it sometime when you have the chance, you may like it.

I like MexiCoke better too, but for those of us who make a habit of the stuff it gets a bit too expensive.
.99c for a 12oz bottle is about triple the price of 12oz of the regular Coke.
