So, the Aryan Brotherhood is trying to go Murder Inc. That's nice. They don't have enough brain cells to function at that level, so it'll be fun watching them get dismantled.

He didn't have a big enough gun, or a 30-round clip.

Well, considering the Texas cops gunned him down in the street while he didn't kill any of them I'm gonna say obviously that hypothesis is correct.

QED Colorado cops aren't trained enough.

The whole situation is ugly.

People who run prisons are not good people and the same goes for white supremacist gang members.

Basically, everyone who should be dead, is.

There is no need to mourn.

And a the head of a prison system isn't exactly Rambo. It's a desk job that requires decades to work up to. Even if he was a dual citizen who'd joined both the Army Rangers and Russia's Alpha and only became a member of the prison system after receiving all the medals in both countries' armed forces he'd still be old and rusty after so long at a desk.

But he was just trollin' anyway.

Well, in case you're not just being an insensitive asshole (which isn't usually your style):

He (the Colorado prison official) answered the door of his home Tuesday evening and was gunned down.

He wasn't "a cop", he was the chief of the prisons, so he was an administrator, and no better trained and armed than, say, Bill Gates; and he was answering a knock at his own front door, so presumably he didn't kick his own door open the wrong way and start blasting away. He opened the door and caught a bullet or two in the face.

Which is why gunz don't really protect you from bad guys as advertised. Nor does any weapon, from Mace to ninja stars: Unless it's in your hand at the instant you need it, it's completely useless; and if you're surprised (as this gentleman was), it won't help you even then. Even Rambo would be helpless against a sneak attack.

I haven't been paying attention to this.  Has there been any indication as to why white supremacist guy would want to target prison head guy?

Really? Why would an expendable thug from one of the largest prison gangs in the nation target a prison official and then attempt to flee the country?

It just doesn't make sense. Clearly there's no possible connection.

Sounds like somebody reneged on their deal with the Brotherhood. Probably over drugs moving through the prisons. Finally, a white supremacist who has done something useful.

You'd be surprised how much of a corpse can be used even if it's been previously ventilated.

I'm not really sure why the duration of the check is terribly relevant. It's not like investigators have to go manually dig through a Raiders of the Lost Ark-style warehouse of criminal records to perform the checks -- it's all handled by computers.

It seems pretty likely that, regardless of how illegal it might be, someone with a rap sheet as long as his and with all his gang-related connections would be able to acquire pretty much any weapon he wanted from illegal sources without too much trouble. I don't really see how the background check is even remotely an issue.
