The RPG is called ArkiEden and it is quite amazing. He has rebuilt the system from scratch several times until he got it to what he considers to be its perfect form. It has a very steampunk feel to it and it's crazy fun to play. You can create almost any type of character, from Thor to Master Chief to a ninja turtle. In addition, all you need to play is the one book; it encompasses the DMG, PHB, and bestiary inside. A few of my own ideas and characters have actually been adopted into the guide book. This is the culmination of over a decade of work on his part and I know getting it published and out there has been his dream for as long as I have known him. Anything you can contribute would help and there are rewards for doing so.

That looks great. I know nothing about gaming but it looks fun.

Good luck.

Any Farker with a rocket propelled grenade is a bad idea.

Yeah, but now that we have these new fangled 3D printers, getting it printed out will provide us all a new-found sense of empowerment.

BTW, tell your friend that if he wants to sell an tabletop RPG, a format traditionally done by the written word, he should  spell-check and grammar check his Kickstarter.

That lack of attention to detail says a lot.

As someone who plays in a group that does a lot of 3rd party design and integration, and as I have spent quite a bit of time working out the kinks in my own system - vague phrases like 'highly customizable' are not selling points for me. 'Highly customizable' could just mean 'I didn't come up with much of anything, so call it whatever you want!'

However, I wish your friend luck.

Yeah, I originally thought this was relating to some new Defense Distributed project, not a role playing game.
