Come on Mizzou...

2013-03-21 10:50:59 PM
So, how much does VCU win by? 35? 40?

2013-03-21 10:55:21 PM
VCU is just tearing Akron a new one. Michigan is gonna have its work cut out for it. IU plays a comparable fast transition game and beat Michigan both games.

2013-03-21 11:00:32 PM
Huh, Harvard up over New Mexico at the half.

I will never understand what and what doesn't constitute a foul in basketball.

Has anyone had a perfect bracket since the field expanded to 64 (or 65 or 68)?

Not even close. Only a handful of people are ever even perfect after the first round. It'll never happen, the odds are simply staggeringly smart.

I'm pretty sure there are huge stories when someone gets a perfect first weekend.

I could've sworn some autistic kid had the first weekend completely right and espn did a story on him a few years ago.

Currently leading the office pool: Me with New Mexico as champ (bullshiat bracket)
Tied for second: Me with Indiana as champ & the highest possible score of all brackets.

Sad I fell asleep with Lobos in the Final Four. Also had Davidson in the Sweet 16.

THIS

Never a perfect bracket though. That's like solving 12 Rubik's cubes while getting struck by a lotto machine or something.

I once got in the top 1% of all ESPN brackets.

New Mexico was a sexy pick in some quarters, Hahvahd could end up pissing a lot of people off here.

In the Lobos lose, it's because they're playing awful.  Hope they can pick it up, Alford better get them all calmed down to get those buckets to drop in the 2nd half

I swear the biggest curse in college ball are black & gold uniforms.
Pitt, Mizzou, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Wake Forest - All 'dark horse' teams that are gonna go deep when they're in the tournament, and they all flame out horribly. Last year in my bullshiat bracket I put Mizzou out to a 15. Why didn't I trust the rule of Black&Gold in the good bracket!?

VCU & Wichita State are the only ones that routinely make it out of round one it seems.

Allright Akron, time to get in into gear!

Oh wait...

Wasn't there some kid with autism or some other affliction that picked everything perfect to the Elite 8 or something 3 years ago (Duke vs. Butler in championship)?  Pretty sure that I remember reading that on Fark, and that he had the correct teams in the CG.

Key line: Herrmann entered his bracket on CBSSports.com's Bracket Manager, which does allow users to change their picks after games are completed

A bunch of assholes from Hahvahd ruining everything? WHY I NEVER.

/thinks of our school's most infamous (if ever-so-briefly) alum
//fun fact: Harvard was recently (as in this week) stripped of three national championships in Quiz Bowl for cheating

Well it is looking like Mizzou is going to kill my perfect bracket. Oh well I did not have them going past the second round anyway.

If Harvard wins it might drop to under 1,000.

Oh FFS Lobos!!

2013-03-21 11:55:09 PM
I'm currently 11/14, and none of the games I missed effect my bracket in significant ways. I do have UNM beating Arizona next round though, so I need them to hold on for the win.

Does anybody think that Amacher will ever get another shot in major college ball?

2013-03-22 12:04:53 AM
Harvard looked dead in the water a couple of minutes ago, but now right back in it!

ongbok: Does anybody think that Amacher will ever get another shot in major college ball?

Yes. Winning helps for that. For all his struggles at Michigan (and he did take over that program after a really tough period filled with scandal), at Seton Hall and Harvard he's been good. My guess is he's had a shot at a mid-major job already but passed it up, and I bet he get an opportunity at a major conference school within the next 3-4 years.

Well that bracket of mine that was leading the office pool with NM as champ isn't looking so cute now.

How do you like them apples?

2013-03-22 12:10:15 AM

Probably more pools are won that way.
I lost out to a woman that picked based upon where she would rather vacation.  I'd still have NM over Harvard though.

Okay Harvard. Just play smart and make your freakin' foul shots!

I've been in pools that have had women who claimed to make their picks based on who's uniforms look better or what mascot would win in a fight, win. So maybe we should all take basketball logic out of it and use silly ass criteria to pick.

2013-03-22 12:17:21 AM
Note to 2014 self: Look at schedule, pick upset on day 1 late, day 2 early; GET THEM RIGHT!

Well, this oughta thin the herd.

2013-03-22 12:20:08 AM

2013-03-22 12:20:48 AM
And just like last year  New Mexico has been a complete disappointment.

2013-03-22 12:21:36 AM
Well, 15-1 is a good start. Stupid New Mexico, and congrats Harvard, ya bastards ;)

Those are some ecstatic band nerds for Harvard.

UNM will be my first lost 16 team.

/Haahhhhhvahd!
