https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Golda_Meir

You just quoted someone that's been dead for how long now?

And didn't actually say what he implied.

Yeah - I know it didn't.  However, it was funny to see him quote "mainstream that deny", which by the verb tense implies a current group, and use someone that's been tits up since, what, 1978?  It's fail all around and that just happened to be the part that amused me the most.

She was Prime Minister when she gave that interview, and no Israeli government has reversed that policy. Also she was PM for a relatively moderate party (a socialist labor party predecessor of Labor) that refused to work with the predecessor of the current governing party, feeling (correctly) that they were crazy fascists.

IOW they're not current because they're not crazy enough.

Get a modern quote, sparky.  You look foolish.

Kind of like the twit who's saying someone's a psychopath because they've no regrets on their voting record - when they don't even know who the alleged psychopath voted for.

NostroZ: liam76: Do you honestly mean to tell me that after you said they are behind the majority of the problems in the US, that they are "ratfarking infiltrators", that they foisted communism on Europe, that when you said "host" you were implying they were like dinner guests vice parasites?

Really?

Iiam76, you're a well intentioned guy and I applaud your sensible decomposition of the implied "Jew Parasite" that Insatiable has danced around with words like rats (actual parasites), infiltrators (ie. enemies of state), host nation (reference to host body v. bacteria), and an all around scapegoating of the majority of the 20th century problems on Jews (communism, WW2, Clash of Civilizations between East v. West, etc.).

But really... do you expect a guy with a name like Insatiable Jesus, who comes around every thread about Israel to say things along the lines of "the few bad Jews will cause another genocide on YOU people... and YOU people deserve it!" as he has countless times.

It's obvious he hates Jews... not all Jews, some are okay... but since those Jews did 'nothing' to stop those he deems evil, collective punishment up to and including another round of genocide is in order as per his Insatiable Jesus handbook.

As a child I was once told a prescient piece of advice:
Don't wrestle with a pig... you'll both get dirty, but the pig wont care.

He's an anti-Semite.  Just like the Republicans don't believe they're racist... despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary... he will never acknowledge his antisemitism.

give me doughnuts: Until the late '60s, Arab "Palestinians" didn't exist. Before that, the term had been applied almost exclusively to Jews living in what is now Israel.

The Palestine Liberation Organization took it's name from the region, not a people. And their definition of "liberation" was the same one Hamas used: Drive all the Jews into the sea.

Come now... the Palestinians or neighboring Arabs, whatever you call them, only want PEACE.

They teach their kids to LOVE their neighbor Jews from an early age...

Amos Quito: It would seem that ignoring the cause of the problem has been a long-time strategy.

So, how's that been working out for you?

My one and only response to you this thread:

The cause of the problem depends on where you want to start the clock. Jews and Muslims were best buddies for a while (when Christianity was trying to obliterate them both), and then weren't - a result of manipulation by leaders, geography, geopolitics (the US was ascairt that Syria - which was sort of modernizing in the 60s-70s - Egypt and others would join the Russians in the Cold War), economics, religious fervor, the history of the conflict itself (starting the clock in absurd places or ignoring shameful parts of their own histories) and yes, the violence. The Lamed-Bet, the Sbarro bombings, airstrikes on "known terrorist locations", bombs in trashcans in the beach district, who farking cares?

If every Jew (or Palestinian) in the world issued a mea culpa for the last 60 years, would anyone spring back to life? Would the situation suddenly resolve itself?

Stop living in the past. Figure out how to make the future better.

Is laying a wreath some urban dictionary term I'm not familiar with?

It means "laying a wreath."  The "disgusting" part is laying it at the grave of a man who fathered the movement that formed Israel, the same movement that now says Palestinians do not exist, that eternal warfare over scraps of land is preferable to giving one inch of soil back to people it was at least kinda stolen from and farking around with foreign governments and dragging the US into pointless wars rather than finding another more peaceful solution.

For once, you nailed it. Congratulations, liam76.

You left out the important one.

It isn't the "tribalism" of the small groups who wants to keep their religion that is the problem.  That isn't even tribalism.  It is the other groups who use the small different group as a scapegoat to blame for all their ills.

Just like you do.

Amos Quito: "The Jewish question persists wherever Jews live in appreciable numbers. Wherever it does not exist, it is brought in together with Jewish immigrants. We are naturally drawn into those places where we are not persecuted, and our appearance there gives rise to persecution. This is the case, and will inevitably be so, everywhere, even in highly civilised countries-see, for instance, France-so long as the Jewish question is not solved on the political level. The unfortunate Jews are now carrying the seeds of anti-Semitism into England; they have already introduced it into America."
- Theodor Herzl Founder of modern Political Zionism

Note the bolded, above. WHO "carries the seeds of anti-Semitism"?

Jews.  But it exists only in a soil and climate of ignorance and hate.  Things you like to spread.  You have to be very stupid to not get what he is saying.

Amos Quito: So, did Herzl's little scheme work?

When he died he was still working onthe vote of the Zionist congress and looking at Uganda, so no.

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
 - Albert Einstein

So you have a group of people (a "tribe", if you will), that repeatedly suffers calamity after calamity, through century after century, under different religious and political systems in country after country - and amid all of these variables, there are really only TWO constants: The presence of the "tribe" itself, and that tribe's steadfast refusal to consider that their behavior might have played any role in instigating said calamities.

Yes, I would call that "ignorance" - emphasis on ignore.

Here's a nice little quote:

"The Jewish question persists wherever Jews live in appreciable numbers. - Theodor Herzl Founder of modern Political Zionism

Note the bolded, above. WHO "carries the seeds of anti-Semitism"?

So, did Herzl's little scheme work? Did the fulfillment of the Zionist Dream effectively reduce anti-Semitism? Or was that even the goal?

What kind of reputation does the Zionist State have in the world at large?

Has the existence and behavior of the Zionist State had any effect on the way Jews, as a people, are viewed by non-Jews?

Nothing is going to get better trying to figure out who started it and why. What we need is someone who will end it.

Actually, he sounds like more and more people in the region. They're all waking up to the fact that nothing changes based on an American president's visit. Oslo was brokered by Clinton, but all of the heavy lifting had to be done by Arafat and Rabin. All of the other deals brokered by the US since then have been cease-fires of one kind or another, while the more concrete actions (Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, withdrawal from the DMZ in Southern Lebanon, the Palestinian elections) were done in-house.

Back in the day I used to play.  I think I was on Vishan?  Can't remember as I let the subscription expire over a decade ago.  It was slightly amusing and a decent game at the time and I had joined one of the guilds, mostly to have other folks to team up with.  Damn if that didn't turn into a constant butthurt festival of he said she said nonsense.

All I wanted to do was spend a night or so playing, have some wine with it, and be silly while killing shiat.
