You know what the fellow said -- in Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace -- and what did that produce? A fugitive accupuncturist with a gun and samurai sword.

I know it's "cool" to be all "wild and crazy" these days, but face it, Switzerland, you're never getting your own Fark tag.  I mean, fugitive acupuncturist with a gun and a samurai sword is pretty food, but it takes years of batshiat crazy to earn a tag like Florida.  I mean, Japan hasn't even earned their own tag!  So, probably best to stop trying.

No, he caused 16 people to have to take meds for the next 50-60 years until they die of slightly-less-than-old age.

/And they can't go out and bang random people anymore

Eh?

A decade ago their bassist had AIDS denial theories and the rest of the band really didn't condemn him for it or really comment on it at all. They've since distanced themselves completely from those theories, but because Grohl is the nicest man in rock and hasn't done anything really remotely controversial, people will bring this up repeatedly and try to blame him for as much as possible.

Or their spouses. Nor can they give blood, play a contact sport, get a tattoo in most places, donate blood or organs or breastfeed. Every skin-breaking injury now brings out the Monsters, Inc. shave-and-spray squad instead of a kleenex and a bandaid. Also there's that whole living in terror of every cough, skin spot and fever for the rest of your life wondering if this one's the start of a total immune system collapse. Thankfully, for American victims anyway, that terror will only last as long as the money to pay for the pills does. Those victims who don't have medical insurance might see another leap year or two.

I think a lifetime of expensive prescriptions, justifiable fear and permanent disruption to the most significant parts of life is worth some time in the can. But hey that's just me.

I'm not blaming him for anything, I like Dave. I just didn't expect anyone to get the off-hand reference if I said Nate Mendel. Not exactly the most noteworthy name. It was also only in 2008 when the Foos stopped supporting Alive & Well. "Frowned" would have been more optimal word use I suppose.

This is accurate.

Yeah, the issue is way more complex than what I posted. I know that there are a lot of social/medical issues that start controlling your life but you aren't "killed" if you get HIV.

They produced Calvin and Zwingli, but that is not really a recommendation.

Oh, hey. It's that thread again where I point out that calling a Katana a 'samurai sword' is like calling an M-16 a 'soldier gun'.

Ignorant and inaccurate language reveals ignorant and lazy people.
