Palaeontologists announced this week that fossilised remains found on a stretch of Isle of Wight beach in 2008 had been finally identified as a new species of flying dinosaur.

Pterosaurs aren't dinosaurs.

OneFretAway: joseelsegundo: Daisy has dedicated her room to the study of animals and dinosaurs

Sigh... My 5-year old daughter has dedicated her room to the study of princesses, mermaids, and fairies.

When my daughter was four she not only correctly identified a pachycephalosaurus skull on sight in the Denver Museum of Natural History, but announced her discovery with perfect pronunciation of the species name.  Now at age 12 she is more likely to roll her eyes at any discussino of science or nature and change the subject to how Justin Beiber is really more of a rapper than a pop artist.

So, there's hope, I guess.  Or something.

Meh.  My kid kills Parasaurolophi:

Could be much worse: Imagine a room dedicated to the "study" of Justin beiberi. Unfortunately, with a 16 y.o. daughter, I do not have to imagine it.

Thank you.

The DBS: Shouldn't the second part of the name start with a lower case letter?

Vectidraco daisymorrisae.

Yes, as per the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, species names are always lowercase. Genus names are always uppercase. It's astounding how many supposedly educated people, even those whose responsibility is to report this stuff in the media, make this error.
