rufus-t-firefly: President Obama in his first four years has taken 131 days, dividing his time between Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard and, of course, Camp David, the official get away of U.S. presidents. At this rate, he could hit 262 days by the end of his eighth year, about average for modern presidents.

He certainly is not the king of vacation days. That honor falls to President George W. Bush, who racked up 1,020 vacation days in his eight years in office, including one five-week vacation, the most of any president in 36 years.

Well, Bushie Jr had designated drivers.

max_pooper: Mistymtnhop: Philip Francis Queeg: Mistymtnhop: Have we ever had a "Super-genuis"president?

Jefferson, maybe? Of course his genius didn't stop him from being a truly lousy President.

Okay, Jefferson. I can agree with that one. Although, I'm not too bright apparently, I was trying to remember if he was second or third president. So I decided to Google him, but I can't think of his first name, so I say to my husband and 14 year old daughter, "President Jefferson, what was his first name, George, right?" My daughter just looks at me and sighs "Thomas." That JUST happened after I read your comment.

/still having my coffee, my only excuse.

Well in your defense, both George Jefferson and Thomas Jefferson did love them some black ladies.

Both made it to the leagues, too!

Weaver95: "Obama's the one who never worked a day in his life," Ailes said in Zev Chafets' book "Roger Ailes: Off Camera." "He never earned a penny that wasn't public money. How many fundraisers does he attend every week? How often does he play basketball and golf? I wish I had that kind of time. He's lazy, but the media won't report that."

so lets take a moment here and follow this thought.  For the sake of argument, lets assume this is a true statement - Obama is lazy, stupid and easily distracted.  But we know he got re-elected to office and beat Romney.  stop and consider what the Republicans are saying here: a lazy, unfocused stupid black man managed to beat Mitt Romney in a landslide election.  that means the GOP is saying Romney is WORSE than Obama.  I mean that's the only conclusion you can come too - if Obama is lazy and stupid but wins, then the guy he beat MUST be even more lazy and stupid.  If Romney was any good at all, he'd have won.

Of course, Allies has no need to just assume this is true. He has an investigative reporting division at his disposal. And there is also Google, which tells me that he worked as a tech writer/editor at Business International Corporation, he was an associate at the private law firms Sidley Austin LLP  and Hopkins & Sutter, and he taught at University of Chicago, a private university. And all of this private sector work is in addition to his public sector positions.

It really pains me to say this, but, if the head of the Number One News Organization in American can get his facts so wrong on the president, maybe his news organization gets other things wrong, too. I know, this shocked me, too.

Mr. Coffee Nerves: If Obama was Republican then Roger Ailes' propaganda outlets would be running stories like "Why is Obama not on Mount Rushmore yet?" and "Is just the $20 enough? Why isn't Obama being put on the quarter?"

The dime. Republicans want to get FDR off the dime. No libucommie is going to be on no Murkin money.

rufus-t-firefly: Ned Stark: HeartBurnKid: Ned Stark: I unno, "he won because he's black" does have a degree of credibility.

No, it doesn't.

Uhhh in the 08 primary men voted slightly in favor of Obama. Women almost split even. Whites, slightly in favor of Clinton.

But Obama utterly crushed Clinton in the black vote.

Whence else this phenomenon? Is the Clinton brand a non-starter in Black America?

African-Americans overwhelmingly voted for Bill Clinton.

Is that because he is white?

In the primary? Because black people voting Democrat over Republican is not shocking data, nor hard to explain post-southern strategy.

Also, Bill busted his ass to pitch himself as a pro-black candidate.

Why is it such a crazed assertion that a historically (and currently, one might argue) minority might want to see one of their own in the top spot? Hell, if I was black I dunno if I would have voted for him but I certainly would have thought about it a lot harder. Seems like a pretty normal human impulse to me.

I'm thrilled at the progress we've made as a society.

15 years ago he would have been declared uppity and Marion Barry'ed.

Nowadays they just call him a lazy, commie-nazi who isn't very bright and leave it at that.

Yay America!!

It most certainly is, don't get me wrong.  But again, it's hard to quantify that effect against the effect of the racists who specifically voted against him due to the color of his skin.  If you're going to say that's the reason he got into office, you're going to have to normalize that against a whole lot of other variables.
