I'm honestly surprise this is as rare to see as it is.  Any idiot can cobble together a bomb.  Just look at McVeigh, he wasn't especially smart.

I still worry about Al-Shabaab.  Like, what spices I should use, and when to turn them on the grill so they don't burn.

...and on Mr. Rogers birthday. tsk tsk

Kollar told the woman he was stressed about those legal troubles and lighted the bomb's fuse three times, only to have it fail.

It didn't fail as bad as the reporter's grasp of English.

You should worry about Al-lentown.

Not so much about  B'thlehem.  Those guys just kill time, fill out forms and stand in line

Matchik said that investigators don't yet know what chemicals were used in Tuesday's explosion and that he couldn't explain why county 911 dispatchers initially said the explosion was sparked by a meth lab.

Um, possibly because 99% of all explosions in that area are tweeker-related?

When in doubt, go with what ya know.

It's illegal to possess ammonium nitrate now?

That's odd.  A few years ago there was a pallet of 40 or 50 pound bags of it just sitting out in front of a local hardware store.  It was kid of a 'WTF' moment for me.

A man who blew up himself with a device in his truck that leveled an acquaintance's rural western Pennsylvania home tried to commit suicide last summer with a 1,600-pound fuel bomb similar to one used to blow up the Oklahoma City federal building in 1995, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Wait wait wait wait... wait.  I was told by gun grabbers that it was impossible to make such a bomb now because the ingredients were regulated away.  This article must be mistaken.

I'm sure you can buy it with a license. It's a critical fertilizer for farms, and a critical industrial explosive for quarries and such.

The evidence used against Kollar was a phone call that was recorded by the jail.

Maybe the judge believes people can not be made a witness against themself?

FTA: Kollar was also suspected of making his own fireworks for sale on the black market, Callihan said. Kollar had lost part of his arm, possibly in 2009, from some kind of chemical accident or explosion gone awry, investigators said.

This guy loved blowing shiat up, I'm surprised he didn't watch the explosion and then eat a bullet.

Shouldn't it still be illegal to possess an explosive or the ingredients for them?

Don't understand the logic of "criminals don't follow the law, therefore the law is bad".

/gun grabbers?  What about the grenade grabbers?  Doesn't my right to bear arms mean I should be able to buy grenades at Wal-Mart?

Yup.  I grew up in the Northwest corner of Somerset County, (south of Cambria).  My first real job out of college was in Ebensburg, doing computer programming for LRK.
