I'd imagine that by drying/cooking you've denatured most of the proteins and enzymes and screwed up most of the medicinal properties, if there are any.

Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe

I thought cooking meat destroyed most of the nutrients in it; she should have just dried and eaten it like that. Or raw; yeah, eat it like that.

From a biochemical standpoint, it's just protein, probably a few percent residual moisture, lipids, and heme from a highly vascularized organ. It has about as much medicinal value as any other body part (read: none). I'm so tired of this pseudoscientific bullshiat. It's right up there with crystals, candling, and reiki.

Also this: "A woman's placenta works specifically for her because it's already prepared with the nutrients that her body needs."

Yeah, nutrients are nutrients. It isn't as if the digestive track is asked for some form of identification before the iron and what have you accept being absorbed. Besides, the placenta is prepared to deliver what the child needs.

Which is why evolution has led to women retaining and reabsorbing the placenta postnatally. Oh, wait...

Wow.  I am in the middle of having some serious insomnia issues, and clicked that link anyway.  To top it off, I even was dumb enough to click the extra link in her article out of sheer morbid curiosity talking about not being a stranger to "eating her own bodily fluids"...........I'd thought I'd seen pretty much everything odd and disturbing that the internet has to offer at this point in my life........I now know that I was wrong.

2013-03-21 08:43:56 AM
I literally just threw up. I am not kidding; my face just came back from being in the sink. But it wasn't this picture that did it, it was the bourbon barrel stout and shots I was drinking last night. This... this actually made me want bacon. Gross I know, but the truth.

Another piece of pseudo science horseshiat

"Humans are the only known mammals who don't eat their own placenta".

First of all, I don't if that's been scientifically verified, but regardless humans have developed food technologies and distribution methods for obtaining calories that other mammals have not, making food much easier to obtain.   These other mammals don't have some special spiritual knowledge that humans have lost touch with.  They need readily available calories as they're incapacitated from obtaining food either by theafter-effects of childbirth and/or being tethered to their nursing newborn.    If you really believe animals have some sort innate knowledge that needs to be emmulated I'll just give you a heads up that my dog eats shiat.   Let him be your guru.
