He looked real broken up about it.

He should leave the area.  Unfortunately, I don't think it's safe there for him.

I haven't read anything about this guy.  I'm not sure if he was overly aggressive with the taser or what, but it seems as though he might've been a bit trigger happy (at least from those two clips).

With the sound off, it just looks like someone with a taser threatening innocent bystanders.

It...what? It is?

*sound on*

The sound of the kids screaming when he knocks the woman out the door is heartbreaking.

They don't say what part of Atlanta this mall is in, but in some areas, a taser would be lightweight.

The articles I've read about it pretty much say that he isn't laid off because of how he did his job, but because of the fact that this particular Hall Mall (read, flea market) is going down the tubes in spite of his efforts. Vendors are leaving and the thugs have pretty much overwhelmed the security. Apparently the place has become impossible to do legitimate business in.

It's impossible to hold back the tide with a teaspoon. That place will be a boarded-up shooting gallery or crack den within six months.

I saw him shove her first.  Looks like he was overly aggressive and a poor fit for a job interacting with the public.  Seemed like he went out of his way to escalate situations.

I'm sure the clip of the incident between the woman and the guard is still out there somewhere.  You might want to watch it.  He spent a long time just trying to get her to leave by asking.

Yes, growing up with a mother like that is going to be rough on him.

This guy seems like a total moron, but he's probably the kind of moron required to prevent that mall from being robbed blind every day of the week.  Those guys buying shoes seemed to just be guys buying shoes, but he clearly recognized the one he called "dawg", so they were probably well-known local dope fiends scouting the mall for for toddlers to sell crack to.

Maybe they can give the new security people cattle prods.  I've always thought those things were pretty menacing looking.  Not sure which I rather face: a cattle prod or a taser.

He said the cops were called in the video, IIRC.  Not that they would be in any big hurry to respond, I'm sure.  Are you of the opinion that property owners don't have the right to forcibly expel people that refuse to leave their property after multiple requests?

It's not a mall. It's an old building repurposed and rented to vendors to sell things out of. More like a Flea Market.

I think making a summary judgement of a short video clip without knowing what lead up to it is being overly judgmental.  MAYBE you don't have enough information to decide if he was right or wrong?  MAYBE you should just enjoy the show and then move on.

The cops were called...
btw, when the cops finally got there and watched the video, she was charged with assault, tresspassing and endangering the welfare of a child, had kids taken away.

He's a mall security guard actually doing his job and trying to keep some semblance of order in the place. Or would you rather just let folks run all over your business, selling drugs and robbing you left and right, scaring away customers. No, not because they're black, but because that's what happens in this part of Atlanta.

If we're talking about the same video that woman had it coming, and her kids were completely out of control yelling at the guard before it escalated. Nobody was an innocent bystander in the one I'm remembering.

If the guy was fired, it doesn't sound like the property owner is a fan of how he handles the situations.

That said, if that's how they choose to handle it, fine.

I just looked Metro Mall up. It is south of Five Points, which can be a rough area -- a lot of crime and violence. The owners of the mall hired this guy specifically to be aggressive because the thugs were ruining their business. The vendors have been vacating because the place has become too dangerous.

Thats not what he said. He said the mall was going downhill financially and that two stores were leaving. He did not say that it was closing because of "thugs". As a matter-of-fact, he gave himself credit for keeping the mall clean and said that the thugs would RETURN because he was just fired. If they were taking over the mall they would not have to "return".

His job isn't to threaten and then use force. That taser is there for his PROTECTION, not for him to enforce his will. Paul Blart was supposed to call the REAL police in the second situation. He was not in any immediate danger in the second clip. He may have been within his rights to use it on the woman because she was assulting him.

Didn't realize he swung. But that was after Blart came over there like Mr. Toughie talking about "get out". If he had grounds for them to be removed from the property there was a way to handle that without it escalating like it did. He was already cranked up to eleven when he approached them.

Wish I could do that to customers who act like that lady. If nothing else than to just stop her from cursing her kid and being a loud, pointless, public troll. Just yesterday, I had an old fark yell at me, suddenly and without warning, "You LOOK at ME when YOU TALK to ME!" I have never desired so much to tell someone that I didn't want to talk to them. He yelled his entire conversation, angry at the world, and getting me to apologize to him for the world not humoring his desire to not be so weak that he needed a hearing aid. There are some people whos heads I've wanted to check the counter density with.

/so, yes, i would like a tazer, pleeeeeze!
