Dear sports writers/bloggers,
Enough with the hating of Duke already.

Every single one expresses their respect for Duke.

You'll be okay.

I put Duke on par with the Yankees, Cowboys, and Lakers. I have no love for the perennial favorites. Give me the underdogs any day!

If Duke sucks, then why is it considered an upset whey they lose?

You don't have to be a UK fan to recognize what is good and right in the world.

Pretty much this, however: Coaching in the ACC back in the day was not a fraternity, it was a den of vipers. Dean Smith, Mike K, whoever the others were hated each other. They never had a civil word for each other when the cameras weren't on. that changed when Jimmy V got sick. Out of all his ACC opponents, only Krzyzewski acknowledged Valvano's condition and visited him in the hospital, and he visited him every day.

This line from the ex-Providence coach is hilarious:

"We had a very talented team. We had God Shammgod, and when you're coaching God, it's tough to lose "

Mazzula turned out to be a far tougher than I imagined when he first signed.  He wasn't very talented, but he played in-your-jersey defense and laid it out on the floor every night.

And it continues right up to today. Just saw Coach K talking about his team's #2 seeding; he basically said "it is what it is and there's no point in complaining about it, we're getting ready to play our opponent and that's what is important". I think Coach K truly did like Valvano, he certainly respected how hard his teams played. He and Dean Smith respected each other, but I doubt you could say they really liked each other.

In case you aren't from NC, Coach K's comment was a slap at Roy Williams, who has been whining nonstop ever since the ACC Tournament that his UNC team should have been seeded higher than the #8 spot. Every time the local media has spoken to him this week, Williams has led off with "well I just don't understand why we're seeded #8; we got to the ACC final tournament game and played really really hard".

Glad I didn't hear all that whining.  Carolina was not good this year.  They got slaughtered by a flight of teams earlier in the year and winning -- anything -- in the ACC this year is barely a commendation.  The conference truly was very poor in 2012-2013, the top two teams notwithstanding.

Oh I agree the ACC was weak this year. Other than Miami, every other team had serious problems winning consistantly. While Duke had some injuries down the stretch that hurt them, even after they were healthy they had trouble winning away games. UNC, OTOH, got totally annihilated at home by Miami and Duke both, and dropped some other very winnable games. Hearing Williams whine they didn't deserve such a low seed just sounds like sour grapes to me.

As much as Tyler Hansbrough annoyed me, all 4 years he was on UNC they beat Duke at Cameron.

That's pretty much the only fan from this farking place. How many Kentucky Sucks headlines were submitted? How many went green?

Fark Kentucky.

I don't think it was an upset, but why not go to the pinnacle of all Duke beatdowns?

The only bad part about it was what happened the following year.
