Had a long talk with Vincent_blackshadow's wife. He's doing better. They were going to take the endotracheal tube (breathing tube) out yesterday but decided to leave it in for a while as a precaution. He is on dialysis three times a week, because the infection went from his lungs to his kidneys, but that may end soon. So, all in all, slow but positive progress.
I had this shiat (MRSA) and it is no joke. At the worst they told my wife to make funeral arrangements. Cancer, heart disease and the like can be prevented and treated but medical science has no clue about this stuff. It comes out of nowhere, hits the perfectly healthy, and a fact that they'd like to keep hidden, kills most victims. Death rate is about 30% during the first 30 days. Bad, bad odds, much worse than most anything else, and I think that the mortality rate is understated I was lucky that I had a world class infectious disease doctor on my case. He calls me his "once in a life time miracle patient". I will need to take oral antibiotics for the rest of my life and get a monthly blood test.

Vincent is one of the lucky ones. His wife is reading these posts to him so post your good wishes and snark here. He's over the hump, but let me tell you, his recovery will be long and hard.

I'm very happy to hear about positive progress.

She is?

Dear  Vincent_blackshadow,

Your wife is an incredibly attractive woman, you lucky, lucky bastard.

Sincerely,
Men of TFD

P.S. Something, something get well.

Holy crap...this is the first I'm hearing about this.  That's terrifying.  Vincent_blackshadow is a great guy, and I'm glad he's doing better.  I'll keep both him and his wife in my thoughts.

WTF Indeed: She is?

Dear  Vincent_blackshadow,

Your wife is an incredibly attractive woman, you lucky, lucky bastard.

Sincerely,
Men of TFD

P.S. Something, something get well.

Note to Mizz Blackshadow,

This is quite tame. That's a sign of the great respect that TF holds V_B.

BTW if anyone here asks for naked pictures of yourself, send them a picture of your elbow. They wont know the difference.

I don't live very far from you guys these days. If there's anything I can do, EIP.

Dear Vincent_blackshadow:

I'm so glad you're getting better. For all her support during these hard times, you should treat your wife to pedicures every day for the rest of her life....in Aruba.

With much love,
Ras

glad to hear he's getting better, I read that there are super infections that can't be cured with any antibiotics and well ... it scared the ever lovin shiat out of me. superbugs. yikes.

Anyways, keep us posted as you get better!

Then take that picture and place it in a folder, then zip the folder, then place the zipped folder in another folder and zip that.  Do that about 20 times, it's like a Russian nesting egg of failure for the creepy men of TF.

So ye had an endotracheal tube, not a tracheotomy?  That's good.

/hope there's no perm kidney damage,
//thanks for the update

They almost took off my foot because of MRSA.

I'm glad he's (somewhat) okay.

Its even scarier when at least two people on TFD have had it. Mortality rate is 30% in the first 30 days. I was on a liter of IV antibiotics a day for 3 months. No prior health issues.

"Russian nesting egg of failure for the creepy men of TF" is the name of my Tatu cover band.

And get well soon, V_B. Next time I'm down in LA I'll take you out for a beer.

Dear Vincent_blackshadow,

I'm sorry you contracted MRSA.  On the plus side, the antibiotics they've been giving you have almost certainly cleared up that chlamydia by now.  As soon as they pull the catheter, it shouldn't burn anymore when you pee.  So you've got that going for you.  Which is nice.

Cheers,
A guy you've never met.

2013-03-20 02:33:22 PM
Damn I had no idea this was going on. I'm glad to hear things are moving toward the positive and that he is getting better.

I might have gotten it wrong. I just picked the first thing on google that came up on "breathing tube"

2013-03-20 02:35:13 PM
Yikes.....I was unaware of this until I saw the thread yesterday.

Get well soon, California Man.

I was not involved with that in anyway. Ask Witchdiva.

BTW the antibiotic that I must take everyday's price has gone from $5 a month to $60 overnight, with insurance. Bastards. Better than dieing but I should have taken up meth, the manufacturers are likely more honest.

2013-03-20 02:44:50 PM
This is good news.  There is still time to contribute to helping offset those pesky life saving bills.

Here I am 4 months after getting sick. 50 pounds down, still in a chair with my guard dogs.  Walked a mile last week. After a year. Felt good.

Let's hope that V_B recovers faster. This stuff is no joke.

In that thread she said they had reached their $5k goal but everyone knows medical bills are outrageous.

First I've heard of it as well, glad to hear his condition is improving.  Those super bugs are absolutely terrifying.

Glad to hear that you're getting better. Come back to Texas and (since I missed it the first time) we'll try to light SchlingFocker on fire again so we can both enjoy it!

Hey, smells_like_meat  - thanks for posting this! :)

Quick reminder for everyone who might be interesting in donating towards v_b's hospital bills, and who missed the first thread about this:

we do have a PayPal account set up to receive donations. We've managed to raise enough since Saturday to cover the deductible, but any of you who have experience with illness know that there are a ton of incidental costs which insurance and Disability just won't cover. If you have a few shekels laying around, please consider sending them over to
vblackshadow*fundraiser[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com (please note that you can't copy/paste an email address from Fark, and also please send it as a "gift" or "personal" to minimize the fee PP takes from every transaction.

Crap I missed this. v_b, kick it's ass, and join the elite club of Farkers that have beaten this crap!

2013-03-20 03:16:23 PM
I don't know you that well, V_B, but I hope you get better. If I ever make it to a SoCal Fark party, I'll buy you a drink of your choice.

2013-03-20 03:21:39 PM
v_b and fishwife, from a Liter who isn't able to jump into the thread yet, "mr_bunny wishes you all the best in a fast recovery. I really do love you, man"

From me, I hope you come out of this experience feeling like a new man (ready to hit ALL the Fark parties, of course)!

2013-03-20 03:22:00 PM
Get better, Vinny. You're a good shiat.
