Because they're our friends!

They supply all our oil......oh wait, not really any more

Well, they're a "modern" society in the savage Middle East which treats women equally and......oh, hold on.

Oh, I know -- there is no money or militant trainees coming from Saudi Arabia helping out terrorists organizations......hmm.

//because they funnel a lot of money to people in power in the US??
///couldn't be that...could it?

The poor ones will have their feet cut off on the spot in Saudi Arabia for trying to board a plane.

But Napolitano spoke highly of "the bond between the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" when she announced the change in January.

I suspect what she actually said was more like, "Mmmf, mmm mfmm...," what with that oil soaked dick in her mouth and all.

Yeah, don't do that.  TSA knows that military people are used to following orders, and will give them less shiat about searches than other people.  Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the checks, but hey, it makes their jobs easier.  My wife used to use her military ID when she flew, and would get "extra checks" every time.  She started using her driver's license, and hasn't been hassled since.

Right.

Saudi nationals. A nation which teaches its school children to hate the US, that we're evil, etc. Yeah, just go ahead and force everyone to go through humiliating searches or use untrustworthy xray devices, force little children to suffer through invasive and terrifying pat downs. But you go right ahead and let that Saudi who would gleefully watch the US go up in flames.

Logical? Logical!

Fark this. Based on historical evidence, all Saudis should get a mandatory finger up the pooper when they arrive at the border, just to make sure they don't have a box cutter up there.

In their defense, only, what, about a few thousand people out of 16 million Saudis are a threat to our security.  And it's probably only New York and Washington DC's security at that.  For a .0003125 chance that there might be trouble in NYC or DC, I'm OK with relaxing the rules somewhat and making exceptions for people.  Perhaps I will be afforded that luxury some day as well.

Wait, there is a trusted traveler program? So this is like reverse profiling -- wealthy folks who travel a lot must present a lower risk?

Or is this a solution to the problem of powerful people complaining about wasteful delays for security theater? Just make a separate line for powerful people so they don't have to take off their shoes?

I looked up TSA's page on this program and the URL almost made me barf. Click it: http://www.tsa.gov/tsa-pre%E2%9C%93%E2%84%A2

Yeah, I was made to throw out my expensive liquid antibiotic once because I brought too much of it. I'm going, yes, I need all of it, for a week long trip. Apparently if I had packed it in two smaller bottles I'd have been fine, but one larger one, OH NOOO. Even with a doctor's note and rx in hand. I even told them I'd drink some right then and there for my daily dose and they still made me toss it. Had to get another rx when I got there. Was such a pain.

I don't get the logic behind this one teensy little bit. I can't bring medicine on a plane but loaded guns get past security all the time.

as in the nation. But you figured that out already.

Saudis are the reason we have a DHS.
They can all DIAF.

2013-03-20 12:36:53 PM
For whatever reason, I have heard people on the political right defending Saudi Arabia's "ally" status, while insisting that Iraq was the enemy and Afghanistan not important.  Some of these same folks went so far as to refer to the Bin Laden raid as Obama ordering the shooting of an unarmed civilian in his own home.  I don't get how the right thinks at all.

2013-03-20 12:46:56 PM
On the bright side at least the US government is no longer making any effort to hide who's wangs they're sucking on.

2013-03-20 12:48:16 PM
Because this has nothing to do with safety. The TSA was created by the US government to control and subjugate the US people. The government wants complete control over our lives.
