Mr_Fabulous: JolobinSmokin: As someone from Oklahoma who always checks the Native American box on any form even tho I do not have absolute proof other than being from Oklahoma and having 80% of my relatives that do have actual proof of their native heritage and being told my whole life that the only reason I don't have proof is because of a fire at the Cherokee courthouse, calling what Elizabeth warren did a lie is really stupid, ignorant of native Americans and Oklahoma and really just American history in general.

Yeah, this faux poutrage from the right over her understanding of her own family history is completely bizarre to me. My own story is exactly the same as hers... it's been my understanding from the age of 6 onwards that I'm 1/32 Cherokee because my great-great-great-grandfather married an Injun bride. Do I have proof of that? No. Do I need to prove that? No. Do I even give a shiat? Nope.

Why some stranger would choose to care about something like that is just farking strange. Like, mentally-ill strange.

Are you future or past me?   Will Community ever get that movie?

Or if you are past me, I can't remember where I left the weed at our dads house in the attic or was it in the storage building?

Muta: Had the GOP simply approved her appointment then Warren would have been the head of an underfunded department and easily characterized as a paper pushing bureaucrat.

x23: machoprogrammer: As much as I like Warren, it was really retarded for Harvard to call her Native American when she was 1/32 Native... I am about 1/32 Irish, yet I don't call myself Irish. Hell, I am 1/8 French and don't even consider myself that.

you should let the Cherokee Nation know that then... seeing as their current chief is only 1/32nd Cherokee.

i suppose you know better than they do as to what is appropriate. i'm sure they'll appreciate your input.

I doubt it. Not even the Cherokee like the French.

Hatred  for Elizabeth Warren is probably the best way to separate the wheat from the chaff.

If you find yourself engaging in this kind of poutrage, you're past the Derp Test with flying colors.

Maybe she doesn't know. Maybe she does. Maybe she wants Dr. Arindrajit Dube to tell her so it's on the Congressional record.

I wouldn't even go that far. She just asked where that money went, because it didn't go to the worker. Dude is reeeeeaaaally trying to make something out of nothing. All the right wing blogs are doing the exact same thing. Just a coincidence I guess!

Johnny_Whistle: His campaign was very careful not to outright accuse her of lying, though.  They said things like "She's facing questions about whether she lied about her heritage," etc.  They let their subordinates like the Herald and talk radio do the hard sell on that.

Except when he couldn't control the assholes in his campaign, of course... Then he had to appear disgusted by the actions of his supporters.

Brown Supporters mocking Warren with war whoops and tomahawk chops

Brown really went out of his way to look like a complete asshole during that election.

You're dangerously close to unraveling the entire GOP platform.

Bloody William: Can any conservatives embracing this whole "ha ha she said she's native american" thing explain... what happened, why it matters or means anything? Because as far as I can see, millions of right-wingers have been masturbating non-stop to outrage over... her allegedly filling out a form and then not actually getting anything from it.

Because the Republicans always need to have a tidbit from someone's past they can attack to avoid having to discuss anything that person says or does in the present and the volume in their echo chamber is always turned up too high to be able to tell whether or not it's working.

keylock71: Too bad for him, over 60% of Massachusetts voters didn't care about this... In fact, the majority of the "outrage" came from groups outside Massachusetts, The Boston Herald (Conservative leaning tabloid) and the piddling few Republicans still in Massachusetts.

I'm butthurt over it because I can't stand running gags based on a false or weak premise. It's bad comedy, but like most right-wing humor the thought seems to be if you just keep hammering on a vague point it'll be come both true and something you can mock.

yup.  And what's more, the GOP elites who tanked her appointment know they f*cked up.  not that they're ever going to admit to it in public mind you...but they know it, we know it and they know that we know they know it.

it's gotta be driving the GOP insiders absolutely bonkers seeing Warren abusing bankers.  sure, they scream about 'petty politics' and hate hate HATE that she uses her position to 'trap' bankers with 'trick' questions....but there's not a damn thing they can do about it.

I'm waiting for the day she shows up to a hearing wearing a WWJD t-shirt and holding a bullwhip.
