If Melgen had known how the game is played, he would have bought himself more Republicans than just the two Florida congressmembers mentioned in TFA, and the Medicare-overbilling issue would have conveniently vanished.

Jackson Herring: MENENDEZ MAY HAVE COURTED REID,OBAMA

ten paragraphs later,

He did, but he didn't get what he was looking for, not directly anyway. The people at the top make sure never to get their hands too dirty with this kind of thing.

I don't think Republicans are all that interested in the Melgen scandal beyond a certain point. There's too much political power bound up in Florida to go around with any of that crazy-ass stopping-Medicare-fraud behavior.

If Menendez was caught, why would you wait?  Keep on digging but if you clearly identified one crook, deal with it.

After reading through that article, I was hard pressed to find anything of consequence being done that would or could actually be troubling, out of the ordinary, remotely linked to the Pres. Admin (other than hand shake and disappointment), proof of actual corruption linked to Pres. admin, ot anything damning at all...    other than this Melger guy was doing what most business people do, especially in GOP circles, to gain some influence to power that could help them further their business...

What did I miss?

Also that at least some of the elements involved with a scandal may have been fabricated, underage hookers and such being fake and paid for by crime families trying to protect their drug smuggling business...

Yet looking through the comments, it would seem that this was a scathing journalistic endeavor that reveals the dark underbelly of the current administration and its corruption in full bright sunlight, being damned to all who look...

I did not see anything like that in the article...   what did I miss?
Or did those people not even read it?

The link to the Administration is bullshiat.  However, Senator Menendez is clearly bought and paid for by Melgen.  In   2010 Menendez took about $150K in free private jet flights to the Dominican Republic.   Menendez supported/pushed for a shiat load of legislation on behalf of Mendes.

Menendez didn't declare it and only recently admitted to taking it (wrote a cheque after-the-fact to Mendes for it ).

The prostitution thing could be bullshiat.  Still not sure about that.  Menendez is a crook and should do time (and he might).

the prostitution thing is the least of the issues. Nice little icing on the cake kick in the ass but this guy was pretty clearly up to no good.

But Melgen wasn't happy with the return on his investment - co-hosting required the maximum $30,400 donation to the DSCC - according to a source who travels in the same Miami political circles. "He had mentioned to me once that he had given all this money to go to an Obama fundraiser, and Obama didn't even give him the time of day," said the source, who didn't want to be identified revealing the contents of private conversations. "He went up to talk to him, and he felt very slighted by the president. He was pretty angry."

So..... I'm going to take this slow to make sure I understand all of the implications of this devious and far-reaching scandal. The guy hosted a Democratic fundraiser that Obama attended, got a smile and a handshake, was pissed that he DIDN'T get any real face time, and that's a "connection" to Obama? When the slimy lobbyist and donor types get pissed off at not getting time, that means they REALLY got screwed.

Glad this story about nothing bridge to nowhere got the green, it's SO worthwhile...

Focus. The Obama/Reid stuff is a red herring.

The key part is way down in TFA where it's mentioned almost as an aside that Melgen also bought a couple of Republican congressmembers in Florida. If somebody digs around down there I'll bet they find a nice thick vein of sleazery.

Technically the Daily Caller called wolf and bear in November and the wolf was caught and the bear claim is being disputed.

Which is why the hookers allegation nonsense is the best thing that could've happened to him. Gives people willing to ignore the legitimate accusations cover to defend defend defend.
