D135: MyKingdomForYourHorse: Sudo_Make_Me_A_Sandwich: nekom: Never touched meth, never will, but it is my understanding that the "one pot shot" produces really BAD quality meth with loads of impurities.

Yeah, same here. I don't have any desire to try meth, but geez, if it's going to be around (and clearly it is), could we just legalize and regulate amphetamines so that people aren't smoking whatever some guy that got a C- in remedial high school chemistry cooked up in the trailer park?

But pharmaceutical companies won't make as much money that way and private prison institutions won't have beds to fill justifying their gross budgets.

Merck just needs to throw millions of lobbyist dollars into the right hands.  What company is better suited to manufacture and distribute?  I can't understand why this hasn't happened yet.

/what's the average return of funds spent on lobbying?

it's called ridelin or aderal.  they've already got their foothold on the speed market.

and, considering lobbying dollars, remember back in the day when pharma was banned from advertising prescription drugs?  well, they lobbied that restriction away and I'd be willing to bet, advertising to us plebes (so we can beg our doctors to give us the new best thing) has made the industry billions... not to mention, they way drugs are marketed to doctors.

Well, to be fair, I have been told that the product was once far superior when the Hell's Angels were in control of production and distribution..  Still not ever trying it.

To be fair, the mom in the article says she knew he smoked pot, so he was both.

If there is one thing the history of drugs has taught us it's that drugs will not be contained. Drugs break free, they expand to new territories and crash through barriers, painfully, maybe even dangerously, but, uh... well, there it is.

I'm, I'm simply saying that drugs, uh... find a way.

Mr.Hawk: barefoot in the head: Well, it's a good thing that there is a tv show that popularises this sort of thing, so that some of you can explain to the rest what kind of sordid crap he was referring to.

That's just dandy. Yay tv.

Let's have a show about a serial killer so we can all relate to the next mass murd ... ahh shiat.

Should we get of of your lawn now? The onion on your belt need changing?

Nothing to do with grass or bulbs. I have always had good taste.

vudukungfu: spentshells: I'll agree that you shouldn't have to pay for it though but someone has to because jail has no shortage of meth

Right, they need to totally reform that whole process.
Like I said. They don't need TV or hot meals.

They certainly shouldn't have access to drugs.

Well, jailhouse drugs are usually pretty shiatty.

Alphakronik: hdhale: sxacho: My brother, I just found out, has been addicted to meth for awhile. It's cost him his job, his wife, his daughter, his friends, his brother, and now he's living with my mom. He's an asshole

Meth makes you into a giant walking asshole.  Nothing matters but getting the drug--nothing.  Wherever it is, crime rates go way up, so if you thinking it is "someone else's problem, you're wrong.

Sounds to me as if he were to be able to get high legally, his life might still be intact rather than torn apart?:

Alchohol is legal and it turns some people into complete assholes and tears apart lives.

Agreed, except do people even manage to die from pure meth use?  Mind you, I made a similar suggestion regarding heroin in order to get rid of the heroin addicts, some Farkers made some comments on what a horrible person I was. (shrugs) If you know something might kill you and you insist on taking it anyway, I'm not sure why it's then my fault.

It's not because of the tweakers.  It's because of the asshats in Washington who pass stupid laws by claiming it'll stop tweakers from getting their fix.
