Kim Jong-il: Whitehead's flight was in Stratford, not Bridgeport. Bridgeport used to be a part of Stratford, anyway...thank god we got rid of it./Stratford's a goddamned ghost town...once Sikorsky goes (and they will), we're toast.
Arkanaut: The Kitty Hawk flight was the first powered, piloted, and controlled flight of a heavier-than-air aircraft. I.e., not a glider or hot air balloon, and where the pilot was able to steer where he was going. Samuel Langley had built an unpiloted powered aircraft that successfully flew nearly a mile in 1896, but was unable to scale it up to a human-sized aircraft. From the picture, it looks like the Whitehead aircraft doesn't have the control surfaces necessary for changing elevation and turning.
