I've got 4 1/2 inches she can play with if you know what I mean. Yep, this Capt. Beverly PIcard action figure is pretty sweet.

Has Gates McFadden gotten even hotter over the years, or did she hit peak-McFadden and go downhill yet? :-)

John de Lancie's master plan is working. Patrick Stewart is playing with Magneto action figures right now and Wil Wheaton is playing with himself like usual. A plan so brilliant it had to come from the Q Continuum.

I have the Captain Beverly Picard action figure, from the last episode of TNG, still in the unopened, original box, so I'm getting a kick out of this article.

I should open that box.

I never had a Dr. Crusher action figure.  I do have a Commander Riker action figure that tops my Christmas tree every year.

Be honest, is he on an away mission to investigate a large tree-like object every year?

/ because that would be awesome.

Yes, he is there every year.  That was a tradition I had to make my wife agree to when we moved in together.  Riker tops the tree because he is Number One.

Dr. Crusher never appeared in the uniform variants those action figures depict. One figure is wearing the original DS9/Voyager uniform, and the other is wearing the cancelled-at-the-last-minute Star Trek: Generations uniform redesign that never appeared on-screen.

Agreed; she's artistic director of a theater, so it's a good way to make use of her name/character & have some fun at the same time.  It's got to be pretty surreal to have an action figure of yourself.

That's what makes them limited addition collectors items.

I have a friend who's really into Warhammer 40K and other tabletop RPGs, and he started sculpting and modding his own figurines a few years back. His wife is a pediatric nurse who works in oncology, though, so lately his hobby has been to make superhero action figures that look like doctors and nurses and the little kids with cancer, then gives them to little patients. Apparently all he has to change is the face and part of the costume, and sometimes just a paint job is enough. (He also mods Barbies and Bratz dolls bald for little girls on chemo, which involves liquid latex somehow.) He's said he'll make a full-body figurine of anyone who'll give a thousand bucks to Make-A-Wish or the Children's Miracle Network, and might have an Etsy page up soon.

/I will commission one, and make Tiny Me little accessories, such as a coffee cup and a bitty smartphone, and then she can play with my Spice Girl dolls, ride the My Little Ponies and play cards with the crew of the Enterprise.
//though, to be honest, to get a 1/8th plastic me, you'd just have to take the Crazy Cat Lady action figure and add bluejeans, glasses and about two packets of extra cats, pretty much.
///I do think I'd rather have an action figure made of a future kid. They'd enjoy it more.
