Why am I haunted by mediocrity?

Was there anybody seriously waiting for this?  I mean, are these things even being written still?  Do they have a market?  Don't get me wrong, I started out reading these when I was young before moving on to Stephen King at about 12 or so, and they were good fun, but is there still a market to have any of these things turned into a movie?

They're still pretty popular at my library, and yes they are still being written.

Man, he's still writing those?  That guy is the pre-teen Stephen King.

Man, when I was a kid I had a serious OCD collection habit. I would harass my parents to get me new Goosebumps. Then finally they put the foot down and said "NO MORE until you actually start READING them." And I got hooked on reading books.

They were almost always rather mediocre, but still, they got me reading and I would hand them to any kid to try and get them to read, too.

Also apparently R. L. Stein is writing adult horror books too.

You haven't heard of this then:

R.L. Stein's work is very, very televised.

The books and tv show were fun but I didn't find them scary." Are you afraid of the dark?", on the other hand.... Saw the red bicycle episode again recently. It still scared the crap out of me.
