There is actually a band called Vampire Weekend?  And it isn't some teenager's shiatty garage band?

No.

Or the song playing in the background of the ad for the next iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

I came across some of their music not too long ago. Some of it's pretty catchy. They taught me what an Oxford Comma was.

Thanks, subby.

Look subby, you can't be a vampire just for a weekend. Once you're undead that's it -- you can't come back to life. If someone's telling you that this is possible, they're probably a vampire and would tell you anything to get closer to your delicious, delicious blood.

The Diane Young song is shiat.  Complete shiat.  Awful unlistenable crap.

The Step song is nice.  I kind of liked it.

I once described Vampire Weekend as a band who realized that there was an entire career to be made off the nostalgia for "Graceland".

Then I fell in love with them -I think it was "M79" that did it.

I don't remember ever previously willingly listening to a Vampire Weekend song.  I'm sure I've heard them on random radio broadcasts, and in bars, stores, commercials.  That said for minimal context, I had the same exact reaction as you.

They had that one song that thu used to play at indie dance clubs a few years ago. That was kind of a catchy song.

Okay, "Step" gets points for the Jandek reference alone.

I know of Vampire Weekend from LEGO Rock Band- "A-Punk" was featured.

It became the defacto theme song of a spring trip I took to visit a friend in Savannah, GA. In my mind, it conjures images of one of those wacky 1960s 150% speed surf-rock sequences, with kids dashing into the waves and cruising around on dune buggies. The buggies were played by the beach patrol, whom we referred to as "Beach Justice". They were to be avoided.

We may have been on the beach, drunk, and on great acid at the time.

Suffice it to say, it was farkin' awesome. Going back in April to do the same thing at Hiltonhead.

I would think that was funnier if Arctic Monkeys actually hid their faces... I know comedy doesn't have to make sense, but if you're making fun of someone for something, it should at least be something they actually do, right?

Actually, love me some Vampire Weekend. Contra is my favorite album to listen to while staring at the ocean with beer in hand.

I could go the rest of my life without heading the world vampire ever again. And why are band names just random words strung together now?

Sure subby, just as long as it's a Werebat. that  can't take human form and is blind in one eye. Deaf in one ear would be a nice touch as well.

Actually the band is named after a shiatty movie that their first album was the soundtrack for. The name stuck.

Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any manufacturer of indie product.

Well, no, not obviously, they were very specifically referring to Arctic Monkeys, which is why I thought it was odd.  The spoof didn't really seem to be about "any manufacturer of indie product" to me.  The description even reads, "The rise of indie Band Arctic Monkeys, in song."

According to my research Dead Ringers went off air in 2007 and Arctic Monkeys first showed their faces ob album cover in 2009 (2008 if live albums count)

Huh, weird... wonder why it says that in the description and why it at least sounds like he's trying to sound like them.
