I bet Fox will provide fair and balanced coverage of this.

I get that its his job to report the news but...the mood that crowd was in, he should have packed up and moved to a more secure location.  standing there and daring the crowd to come get him was beyond stupid.  he's lucky he didn't get killed.

I fully agree. However it's said that we feel that way. It would be nice to have a counter protest and not worry about getting hurt.

That would have been to far but he could have imposed fines for wasting the courts time with frivolous charges.

The union thug was pushed by someone else or fell.
when he got up he started swinging and hit the reporter.

self defense shouldn't include attacking someone who didn't attack you.

whose the guy who is threatening to shot him after the incident?

Aren't reporters supposed to be impartial, to not get involved in either a protest or a counter-protest?  If you move into a potentially violent crowd, and all protests have to potential to turn to violence, then you have to understand that you might get caught up in that violence.  If you take an active part, like say pushing one of the protesters, then you have given up that veil of impartiality and are almost certain to get caught up.

huh?  The reporter was standing in front of him.
There were people between the reporter and the union thug.
The union thug fell to his left.
How do you get that from that the reporter pushed him?

Yeah, especially since there was a guy there who claims he has a gun and that he wanted to kill the reporter.  (in the crowder video from 48 seconds to about 60).

In any case, "provoking the crowd" is probably not a good idea in those types of situations.

2013-03-19 12:51:32 PM
Oh come on. One guy who got pushed to the ground got back up and threw a punch. And even that was played up for ratings/Republican agenda.
"Lucky he didn't get killed?" Please. This wasn't the farking L.A. riots. The guy was a shiat stirrer, stirring shiat, and he ended up getting the footage he wanted.

The fact a judge called bullshiat on Fox News' version of events is going to do next to nothing - it's like the retraction buried on page C17 (though Fox News won't actually do a retraction, obviously, and will probably still push the original story of their babe in the woods reporter being attacked by union thugs).

If you're a half-baked reporter with a conservative agenda, getting punched at a union protest is like an early Christmas present. The "union thug" should have gotten some mileage out of it and really kicked his ass.

no, it's not.  sometimes you might get lucky and get that one bit of footage you wanted for the evening news lead story...or you could wind up with a broken nose and a smashed camera.

How is 'editing the video and claiming to have been sucker punched' not a criminal offense under the umbrella of 'filing a false police report'?

On Fox News, unfunny comics pose as journalists for the sake of finding any kind of work.
