Sergeant Grumbles: rtaylor92: Thankfully my 3 yo daughter loves Adventure Time more than life itself and THAT my farkfriends, is a fantastic cartoon no matter your age or gender.

Complete opposite. My Brony level is dangerous, but I do not "get" Adventure Time.
I suppose it's mostly the style... and I daresay it might be I'm unable to get past it. Considering my art and design background, the art can be 90% of why I watch anything to begin with. Finn's entire anatomy, especially the face, just makes me cringe.

I hear about the deeper themes behind the random wackiness, and I'm interested to learn more, but then I see the art style and actually have to endure the random wackiness. Just don't get it. i can easily see why people wouldn't like MLP, but I can't seem to figure out what part of my brain I need to turn off to enjoy AT.

I still haven't watched Adventure Time and the animation is also what is putting me off from it. That has to be the ugliest cartoon I have ever seen, I don't know if I could enjoy watching it no matter how good the writing is. I also had no idea there was a new Scooby Doo series, I'll have to check that out.

Thread over.  If you can look at that picture and see yourself or any of your friends, just stop it.  Stop it now, grow up, be less pedophilic, and find something useful, like euthanizing yourself.

The "yourself" was for any reader--not you personally.

yeah no worries I picked that up.

Rainbow Dash as Scrappy?

Damn, that's mean.

Twilight Farkle: MeanJean: I think the fact that they allow people to make fan vids and don't demand they be taken down helped the fandom explode.

Also, how can you not love Derpy Hooves?

That, that, and...

...that too.

"Equestria, you gotta get the muffins first. First you get the muffins, then you get the friendship, then, then you become an alicorn."

On the fan content front, the year's still shaping up for con season.

First up, with a scheduled release date of March 30, 2013, Double Rainboom, the first entirely fan-made episode, and he's got Hasbro's written permission, so there shouldn't be any last-minute glitches.

(Speaking of last-minute glitches, and as a followup to the Fighting is Magic story, the mane6dev team behind FiM has accepted Lauren Faust's offer to do character design. The Herd won't get the MLP-themed fighting game originally envisioned, but we'll all get a good indie 2D fighter out of it. For those not of the Herd, that might even be 20% cooler.)

Slated for later this year: Ponies, The Anthology, Vol. III (no set release date, but if you remember Volume I and Volume II, you'll want to keep your eyes open and a six-pack of cider at the ready.)

For fighting is magic, all they have to do is leak a "fan mod" *cough cough* with ponified versions of her characters.

CraicBaby: Is this a bad time to mention that we're having another Omaha Fark Party this summer?

Anything more detailed than "Omaha" and "this summer" yet ?

Who cares if a bunch of gays want to obsess about a kids show?

Lot of homophobes in this thread.

There is nothing inherently wrong with an adult watching a children's cartoon, and in fact, doing so has been a guilty pleasure for many adults since cartoons marketed specifically for children first appeared. When a community of adult male loners, many of whom are known for their cynical outlook on life and dislike of children (and perhaps drinking and/or past family issues), start an obsessive fan culture around a show for little girls, it becomes creepy. Perhaps the "bronies" reputation is wholly undeserved, but that is how the fandom appears.

For me, it's visual prozac, a pause from the parts of my day job that would otherwise drive me deeper into cynical bastardry. Beyond that, I'd be among the first to say the phenomenon doesn't make sense, but what fun is there in making sense?

Meanwhile, in Nebraska, an Omaha reporter tries to make sense of it and does a pretty good job, all things considered.

fickenchucker: You know who watches kids' shows with no kids in the room?  Pedophiles.

Does this only apply to MLP, or does it also apply to GI Joe, Transformers, Looney Tunes, Rocko's Modern Life, Popeye, Betty Boop, Gargoyles, JEM, Pirates of Dark Water, SilverHawks, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc?

Do you experience pedophilic urges whenever you see a cartoon playing?

Do you know people who only watch cartoons to rape children? Has there been any instances of children being raped because an adult watched a cartoon?

Were you born an idiot, or did it happen over time?

I could post pictures of any group of people in any fandom and ask the same thing.

At least Bronies don't start riots, destroy property, and murder people when their favorite sports team wins or loses a game.

I'll be sure to tell that to all of the construction workers, policemen, athletes, and military personnel who are also Bronies.
