What was the question?

2013-03-19 09:23:42 AM
So there is going to be an STD outbreak at some rehab clinic in the near future?

Locked rehab that she can't just check out of?  Seems to me that is better than jail.  In jail she'd be getting an early release.  Remember Paris Hilton and her jail stay?  She's stuck in there for the duration.  No time off for good behaviour.

If she was talented she'd be eligible for Club 27 starting in July.

Did not seem to do the trick after the last few stays in rehab, why the upbeat attitude this time?

It isn't too hard to be holier than Lohan. I think you'd have to work at it to be less so.

/Really hope rehab works for her this time

I'm not holding out much hope.  According to TFA, this is her sixth time in rehab.  Don't get me wrong, I'm all for moving the war on drugs from an incarceration focus to a rehabilitation one, but at this point I think that more rehab is just enabling her.  If the first five times didn't work (and I would apply this logic to anyone, not just Lohan), I'm not holding my breath for the sixth.  She clearly hasn't gotten he message, and some actual jail time might actually help her.  I don't want to wait for her to run someone over before she goes to jail.

What she really needs is a ban on spray-tanning, plastic surgery, and hair coloring. And jail.

Philip Francis Queeg: So there is going to be an STD outbreak at some rehab clinic in the near future?

Rehab is where drunks go to hook up. Seriously, a bunch of emotionally stunted semi adults (usually running to younger and highly sexually active anyway) cooped up in a small area trying to deal with emotional issues, stress, and withdrawal.

God I kick myself for not banging my brains out in there. Imagine that I had bigger priorities.

But ya, STDs run pretty rampant in those places. Either you come in with one, leave with one, or are monk celibate.

Also: I've seen rehab work even after tons of visits, and it worked after 1 for me. It's just determination. Unfortunately rarely to not quite never does 'doing it for the courts/family/etc' actually work. So I assume she will be right back where she started in 6 months, sadly.

I feel bad for her, kind of. I mean, she's horrible, but she doesn't exactly have anybody around her that gives a shiat. She has a group of sycophants that are happy to let her die if she continues to buy them booze and drugs and get them into parties.

Locked rehab is good, but it needs to be at a "secret" facility in bumfark Kansas. She needs to be removed from the Hollywood scene entirely.

It took two rehab visits before I saw the light - maybe six is the charm for Lindsay? We can only hope.

On a related note, I can't help but notice that many of the people in the program with me got significant jail time for far less than LiLo. Double standards sure do cause resentments.

Kudos to you and the other farker who had success. (Can't double quote, mobile Farking.)

I think you hit the nail on the head. She has to want to get clean, for herself, not because someone is telling her to. Someone should probably tell her "friends" her rehab facility is in Iceland or something, then just disappear her when she's done. (Not KGB disappear, but like witness protection disappear.)

2013-03-19 01:33:15 PM
At this point, I really don't see it making any impression.  She doesn't seem to have anyone around her that can set a good example (she may have just driven all of those people away), but forced rehab never helps someone.  You have to want to change and have the willpower in order to get over addiction.  It's sad that so many kids in Hollywood end up going down this road.

Reminds me of my roomates new BF. He is a "recovering" coke head, this is his third time "recovering". She has know him for years and wouldnt date him unless he was clean. She told me a few weeks ago they had started dating and asked me what I thought of it. I just sighed walked away and locked up my valuables. He dosent even believe her and I never hooked up and never will. But if I ever wanna break them up I should just tell him that we have and watch him flip out.

WTF?

Can someone please make a GIF of the John Tutorro character from "O Brother Where Art Thou" saying, "That don't make no sense!"? I would use that here.

"In May of 2013, Lindsay Lohan escaped from rehab.  Lilo crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shiat smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

The crawl actually improved her normal stank odor."

Oddly enough, my opinion is that, if you want to get clean and sober, you will, even in open door facilities. I could have walked out of mine any time I wanted. I had car keys and a cell phone and my wallet, etc.  I often drove to meetings. And that was the standard.

Lockup just forces you to be sober, for a while. To endure it, and mouth the right things, so that you can get back out and do what you want. It doesn't change many people because it has to come from inside. The person has to be convinced he or she has a problem, otherwise nothing will ever change their behavior.

Before AA, the solution to alcoholics was to simply lock them up, in mental hospitals, after the towns got tired of dealing with them. It was termed 'alcoholic insanity'.  Not really relevant, but an amusing anecdote, to me.

Oh come on. Who has she killed, raped, molested, beaten, starved or maimed? She's not up there with Jeffrey Dahmer or even Rush Limbaugh: the worst you can say about her is that based on what they tell us about her she seems to be a "substance abuser" and her judgment might not always be first-rate. Her and several thousand other young women in L.A. County alone.

If you have to try hard to be less holy than Ms. Lohan then you're literally a saint and/or an angel. My hunch is you don't belong on that cute little pedestal.

I don't even think she really needs forcible locked-in rehab. If her major offense against society is that she shouldn't drive then take away her driving privileges: I'm sure there will always be people to drive her where she has to go, if not hangers-on then these nifty folks called taxi drivers.

Again: who has she seriously damaged besides perhaps herself? Society and its constituent "morality mavens" should leave Ms. Lohan the fark alone, along with all these other basically harmless "substance abusers" that she's somehow made to represent.

Let me know if she's ever convicted of clubbing an old lady. Until then can't y'all find some more pressing problem to consume and gossip about? Are your lives really that safe, secure and boring?

Hint: you don't own Lindsay Lohan. Neither does Fox News, L.A. County or Sam Ronson's helicopter mommy. Sheesh.

It isn't being a saint to not to abuse drugs. That's called normal. Also normal - not shoplifting. Or not committing multiple DUIs. Or not disobeying court orders. Seriously, these are all the acts of someone who is actively being stupid and self-indulgent. There is no excuse for this behavior - she is choosing to put herself in the position where she will commit them and continue to do so. And the sad thing is, when she is sober, she seems to be very bright and she has been a good actress. If she wants to destroy herself, that's her business, but don't do it in public and definitely don't do it while driving. Notice how Paris Hilton hasn't been skeeving it up since she went to jail? Maybe the same solution needs to apply.

/Sure, she's had awful parents, but she's been an adult long enough where that doesn't fly anymore. Grow the fark up, get off your stupid little happy pills, and act like someone who can think farther than the next burst of pleasure.
