2013-03-19 05:00:41 AM
White on white translucent bumpers crash
Back on the road
Bela Lugosi's dead
The car has left the accident scene
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines my Subaru
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead
The LAPD file past my cell
Strewn with time's dead roaches
Bereft in deathly hell
Alone in a darkened room
The court.
Bela Logosi's dead
Undead undead undead

Hmm, or maybe it should be "Bela Lugosi's drunk" ?

After Bauhaus, Murphy did an album with ex-Japan bassist Mick Karn, and they used the band name Dalis Car. They did one album soon after Bauhaus and Japan broke up, and were recording a second album in 2010 when Karn was diagnosed with cancer. They were only able to record an EP of stuff before Karn died.

But was he going so fast that he broke the sound barrier?

You think he would be doing something different than driving under the influence All Night Long, but unfortunately he got into an accident when His Circle and Hers Meet. I am sure Murphy wasn't himself when he decided to hit and run, just Dark Entities came through his Mirror to my Woman's Mind.

sad to see this, was hoping it was just a garden variety DUI (not saying DUI is cool) as in, "was pulled over leaving a restaurant and blew just oer the limit".  instead it sounds like dude has some serious problems.

bauhaus is overrated....a cool logo and mystique but musically they weren't terribly proficient and their catalog has lots of throwaway songs.  vastly prefer his solo stuff.  the "cuts you up" album (that is the title, right?) is outstnading and largely holds up despite some 80s production value.  1992's "Holy Smoke" is also very good but had the dumb luck of being released right as the grunge era exploded, so the album's slick, sleek production style just didn't gain any traction, despite having some outstanding songs.  his albums afterwards haven't been consistently as good (although 2004's "Unshattered" had some tremendous songs) but each will have 1-2 outstanding songs.

get well mr. murphy.

Saw Murphy about a year ago.  He put on a fantastic show, but a large chunk of the banter between songs was about a) how completely broke he was (would explain the Subaru) or b) how many drugs he was planning to do that night.  We kinda blew it off as typical rock-star shenanigans, but it sounds like dude actually needs some help.

/he puts on a fantastic show, BTW

He had to back out of a world tour a few years ago with Brendan Perry from Dead Can Dance citing undisclosed health issues.  Perry then went on his own messageboard to let everyone know the tour would never happen because  Murphy is "one sandwich short of a picnic".

no shiat.  i didn't know that.

i've only caught him once (holy smoke tour) and had to miss several shwos over the years for various reasons.  always sucks when a guy is in your town playing a show and you can't make it.

I really like his album 'Dust.' I think that was his first solo album to have heavy Turkish influence.

the last few i heard all had "that" sound but i didn't care for the songs.  like there was one around 2002/2003 that i was really looking forward to, but once i heard it it was like, the same song 10 times.  just bland.

i have a cool live studio recording of him, with NIN, doing 4 joy division songs on either Ian Curtis' birth or death-day.  the set was like "Dead Souls", "Atmosphere"......uh.....I think "She's Lost Control" and then that really early JD song that starts "3 - 5 - 0 - 1 - 2 - 5 GO!"  let me know if you want it.  perfect sound quality.

sure thing.  i think i stsill have a decent quality peter murphy recording from Holy Smoke tour....if not that then circa 1995 or so.....some show in California as I recall.  Not a great recording, but pretty good, just aged.

I'm kind of surprised. I met him in the late 90s. Nice guy, very spiritual... Didn't seem the type to get blitzed and drive. Didn't even seem the type to get even close to drunk, these days.

Now, Daniel Ash... I met him, too, and I'm pretty sure he was already a little drunk at the time. Cool shoes, though.

Call me crazy, but I thought the name "Dali's Car" originated via Eno in the mid 70's. A single, I think?

Bought tickets for his upcoming tour as soon as they went on sale.  He was on facebook a couple of months ago complaining about music piracy....He's got some serious financial issues.

I read that comment by Brendon Perry saying he was "a sandwich short of a picnic".  But I do have to say that that tour would have been the greatest show in the history of man kind.
