One of my dream cars.

/yes, totally serious.
//would really dislike getting parts for it at this point.

Most parts are pretty much still availasble, Plus P1800s are literally the most durable cars on the road One has done well over a million miles now

So, someone at Callaway said, "Well, the good news is we can't make it any uglier..."

And hey, they were mostly right.

/Callaway? Don't they make tennis racquets or something?

See, I always thought the Impala SS wagon was hot:

But then again, I also liked the '99 Nomad concept:

Here, here. Snowtown to Florida, A/C on full blast, 455 humming along at 5-6MPG, helpful, conscientious GA state troopers in the rearview....

Vista Cruisers were the best.

'Course, on my budget I had one of these:

Eligarf: brewswane: Kind of, almost a wagon.  Do ya know the difference between a porcupine and a corvette? The porcupine has the pricks on the outside.

Change that to Audi and I am with you.

I was going to change it to BMW when I retold it.

The biggest crying shame of that jag?

It was a one off, and when they destroyed it in the movie... it was destroyed.

There might be some fan builds out there, but the original died in the scene they killed it.

'77 Vista Cruiser is what I inherited when I turned 16 in the early 90's, back when you could actually drive when you got your license at 16. Still had most of it's faux wood paneling.

Good times, good times.

I block that scene from my memory, and if I watch the film, I avert my eyes. What a tragic waste

S54 or S52 power?

/instructed a guy with an S54 powered one. 315 HP + E30 style rear suspension + a track in desperate need of repaving = a fair amount of time going really fast, sideways.

It's like a mullet in reverse: Party in the front, business in the back.

The car's just as ugly as the regular kind, though. It looks like a Corvette had drunk sex with a Ford Pinto.

Subby is apparently mid-western, old, stupid, all three. "Wagon" aka "estate" aka "5-door" is one of the smartest and prettiest car layouts created, your coal burning backwoods generation notwithstanding.

Shooting brake has always been my favorite style of race car and is what fed my love affair with station wagons. I have already posted pictures of my Brick. I've just always loved the style and the utility so I've owned a bunch of station wagons (not quite the same) throughout my life. One of my favorites was a VW Quantum GL-5. It was a great deal of fun.

I'll try hotlinking this...

carphotos.cardomain.com
It was one of my favorite cars actually. If you get a minute and want to take a look at an oddity that was a work of art then I'd Google it.

Hell, here: Link

It had a 2.2L 5 cylinder Audi engine which was neat. It did a good job and was a lot of fun, comfort, and quirky German engineering. It had power everything and a top end Bose sound system from the factory. It wasn't the fastest car or anything but it was plenty fast and stuck to the road like a hippy in Birkenstocks. Those across the pond would recognize it as an early Passat.

Anyhow, that's one of my favorite wagons. Volvo makes and Saab used to make very good wagons. Some sporty BMWs are available but that's my not so cool station wagon story. I just like the style and they're actually pretty good aerodynamic-wise I understand.
