goatleggedfellow: Why can't I see that video in fullscreen without going through a pop-up that forces me to agree or go back? What am I agreeing to and why can't I just close the damn pop-up?

shiat like that just reeks of someone trying to trick me into something.

Reek, reek, it rhymes with meek.

You're thinking Sword of Truth.

God Is My Co-Pirate: Zarquon's Flat Tire: elvindeath: I'm pretty sure he wouldn't take back the signature moment of his entire collected works. I can't think of a single literary moment that was more "holy shiat" than that. It's the one scene that makes sure you know this isn't like anything else you've ever read.

Not even when Ned bit it two books earlier?

Nah, the RW is much worse. Like, people get concerned about you when they know you're coming up to that point in the book.

Anyway, the third book is going to be split into two seasons, so I'd imagine they'll save that for next year.  By my count, though, we'll still have two weddings in this season. I suspect they'll end this year with a certain pigeon pie.

I have heard that the RW is the season finale this year.  I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Even with the third book being split into two seasons the book is still SOOO dense that it will be hard to do it justice.  that trailer looked like a good start though...

Why use the Tron: Legacy soundtrack for this teaser?!?!

2013-03-18 05:40:07 PM

Gratch: The Tron soundtrack?  Really?  There are very few pieces of music that would be a worse fit for a medieval drama than that one.

/great trailer otherwise

Yeah, it just doesn't fit the way Florence and the Machine's "Seven Devils" did last season.

That's what makes the most sense to me: RW as the season finale this year, and then you can start season 4 with the pie and end it with the snake.

Cymbal: elvindeath: Cymbal: Tax Boy: How many weddings will they feature this season?

Hopefully not the red one. I still think G.R.R. Martin would take that one back if he had the chance. Just seemed too soon for that plot thread to end.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't take back the signature moment of his entire collected works.  I can't think of a single literary moment that was more "holy shiat" than that. It's the one scene that makes sure you know this isn't like anything else you've ever read.

True, but it felt too soon. Seems it should have happened in one of the later books. But I guess the effect wouldn't have been the same.

If it weren't for the anticipation that the shiat could hit the fan at any random moment, no one would have suffered through the last few meandering pieces of shiat.

Doesn't AMC re-air Walking Dead at 11?  That's what I'm hoping at least.

Luckily for me on the west coast, Comcast airs the East Coast HD feed for AMC, so I get to watch The Walking Dead it at 6 PM.

/Not to mention I have a quad-tuner TiVo for when these great TV pileups happen.

As per a fark thread the other day the 9th episode is titled 'Rains of Castemere', pretty safe bet what goes on in that one. I should really get around to watching season 2 at some point...

/thankfully read the books before anything further than Ned in book one was spoiled

My friend spoiled Ned for me while recommending the books years before the tv show was planned.  I still enjoyed the series, but man that would have been something to have come out of nowhere.

Simply based on where it happens in the book this does make the most sense...and ends the season on a very dramatic note that has people talking about it until the show comes back...

I think so. Would like to see the hilts on his weapons.

It seems they changed Daario's looks like they did to Renly who is supposed to be bald.

But I guess they pretty'd him up to justify future Dany decisions for viewers.

More like devoid of their twigs and berry's.  Thats what I took their name to mean, unsullied by females.

They're unsullied in many respects:  virginal, meticulously clean, spotless honor and victory records, untouched by fear, pain, compassion, or cowardice... the one irony is that the word describes eunuchs.

People are gonna get dead. The next couple seasons are gonna be interesting. Its going to make or break the series.

I'm still on the fence after book 3. 4&5 were 'meh' But after 3 its understandable. I don't see the plot being resolved in 'only' 2 more books. If it is, 6&7 are gonna be epic.

I believe it was Syrio Forel who was described as bald(ing).  The one on the show was also decidedly younger than I was expecting.

Yeah that makes sense. I suppose I'll have to get use to these characters looking different than they do in my head.

Eddie Ate Dynamite: What the fark happens?

Joffrey eats part of a big-ass pigeon pie at his wedding, and something comedic happens at his expense. It's a crude joke, really, even by GRRM's bawdy standards, but it's become a fan favorite because Joff is an intolerable little shiat.

Sorry for the spoilers, but I just really don't get why people think it's such a big deal. I'll let you decide for yourself whether you think it's funny.

Spaced Lion: Romanes Eunt Domus: The one on the show was also decidedly younger than I was expecting.

I was referring to Syrio with that last sentence.  Renly was the youngest of the Baratheon brothers but I always pictured him in his early-20's.  He was the one who did not participate in Robert's Rebellion (which took place ~17 years before the story begins in A Game of Thrones).

As far as Renly is concerned, I think the one on the show is a bit older than I pictured him but still conveys the message that he's a young and fairly idealistic/naive.

I have always felt that way about mono channel audio oddly enough. Cleaned up audio on digital transfers of old movies just sounds so sterile.

After consulting the Song of Ice and Fire Wiki, Renly is 21 and Sylvio's exact age is never mentioned. He is described as older in the books, but also doesn't quite look it, thereby widening the casting choices. I am kind of glad they went with someone who reminds me so delightfully much of Mario, though.
