(ESPN)   Not a lot of movement at the top, but the Pens climb a few spots with a nice winning streak. And of course the Blackhawks still dominate the #1 spot. It's your Week 9 NHL Power Rankings   (espn.go.com) divider line 32

Dallas learned the hard way that the Hawks are the clear #1.  Yikes.

They have the 'Hawks listed at 23-2-0. They are 23-2-3.

Chicago
23-2-0

I'm not a hockey guy and even I know that's wrong. Goddamnit ESPN.

Rose to #19, on a hot streak (though they blew a 3 goal lead to Florida in a game they won anyway), 2 points out of the last spot, potential dogfight with the Rags looming... can the Isles actually pull this off?

The Oilers are clearly on their way to locking up 24th spot this season.

Clear #1? LOL, no. I'd argue that the Ducks are the best team in the league.

It is pretty impressive to me that John Tavares can play as well as he does while carrying all the other Islanders players on his back.

Even Rick Nash in Columbus wasn't dragging around as much dead weight as Tavares is now.

He's amazing but I don't know that I'd go that far. The team is 10th in scoring, Moulson's good, we've somehow stumbled into a solid, fun 4th line. The problem is that calling them Swiss cheese on defense is an insult to Swiss cheese.

B's fans (me included) have to be a little concerned about the 2 Pens games.  Not so much yesterday as the game they gave away last week, but still, hope the Bruins don't meet them in the ECF (if they get to it.)

Think there is one more regular season match up, Bruins need to win that one

Not sure how with a better past 10 record the Ducks didn't manage #1 this week.  Maybe next week depending how the Hawks game goes.  Sure the Hawks are having a season for the ages, but regulation losses to colorado and the oilers while Anaheim goes 7-0-3 their last 10 with only one regulation loss in almost 7 weeks?

The Blue Jackets at #17 is still amazing to me. Bobrovsky is playing out of his mind and the defense has been spectacular. It is actually fun and exciting going to Jackets games right now because you can expect them to be in the game and have a chance to win, unlike last year when you went just to have a night out downtown and expected them to get beat down.

GO JACKETS!
/but please lose all remaining away games so you can get the high draft pick you need to have some sort of offense

The upcoming Hawks/Ducks game ought to settle that one... The Ducks have been flying under the radar due to all the Hawks hoopla.

Yeah hopefully, it's just curious what the rankings come from when clearly for the past month Anaheim has been the scariest team in the league.  Not to take anything from Chicago.  Anaheim is just goddamn scary all over.

We have three first round draft picks...I'm okay with making the playoffs with that many first rounders available (though we all know that won't happen).

What's scary is that (at least for the time being) every team in the West is at least within striking distance of a playoff spot. Only the Hawks and Ducks have somewhat comfortable leads.

Terrible idea now, should have happened 2-3 years ago.  Won't get anything back now in return.  The only reason to do it would be to ship him off to a team with a chance at winning the cup.  Better off trading someone that has some value, even if that value is only in age and perception.  Either way unless their next road trip turns into another gargantuan california cluster fark, they're not doing anything dramatic.

If the Hawks same exact players had been playing the same exact way but in a different city, he probably wouldn't be making this argument. He is an extremely butthurt Detroit troll that has an irrational hatred for all things Chicago. Luckily for us we all know that Detroit is the real shiathole and he's just a Michigan turd.
