Fark Party
Host: stainedglassdoll
Description: Saint Louis Fark Party, June 1 - Get drunk and climb on stuff, TODAY, storm or shine
Date/Time: June 1, 2013 - 07:30 PM (local time)
Party Info: Meet me in Saint Louis!  The Midwest gets no love, as Farkers tend to flock to either coast. :(

Saint Louis Fark Party, June 1 - Get drunk and climb on stuff

The party itself I'd like to have at the City Museum in Saint Louis, dubbed a "playground for adults", where you can get drunk and climb on and in all kinds of shiat (for a better glimpse, check out  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whf1SR7ZAxc). It's the kind of place that would be perfect for a bunch of Farkers. General admission on the weekends is $10 after 5 pm.

For those of you that want to hang out for the weekend, Saint Louis has a ton of great stuff to do in the summer. Aside from the Arch (you can ride up to the top!), there is a great park called Forest Park, that is home to many museums and an awesome freakin' zoo, all free to the public. There is a beautiful Botanical Gardens as well, that is lovely to walk around in. We could even have a picnic in the park, if anyone was interested.  There are lots of bars and a great foodie scene, as well. If any events during that weekend come up, I'll post them here as well. :)

If anyone wants to organize specific outings as a group, just post and we can use this thread for planning.

UPDATE: For hotel reservation information, Bukharin has set something up for farkers at the Rennaissance Grand. To reserve a room, you can contact him at Bukharin[nospam-﹫-backwards]krafartlu*com

May have to show up for the 618 side.   City Museum isn't too far from Pop's and the strip clubs.  Could be a fun night.

Who plans anything that far in advance?!? Remind me a week or two before, and I'm a definite maybe.

With all the microbreweries in STL now, Farkers wanna hang at the City Museum?
BTW, the pic of the dog is near the art museum in Forest Park; the City Museum's surroundings are not so verdant.....

Fark, I'm going to be in St Louis in August, haven't been back there in ~4 years and getting drunk at city museum would be awesome.

show me: Mrtraveler01:
Pretty close. I'm in a subdivision off Country Club Road.

/I used to work at that Schnucks

Cool, I live down 94 in a subdivision just off Jungs Station.

I used to live on Country Knoll, then over by Lindenwood (the place I rented is now gone thanks to them), now in St. Peters by Laurel Park.

Definitely would consider going.  Planning to be out of town, though, for my daughter's dance competition.

I wondered how many Farkers were in the STL area.  I'm not very comforted with that thought, though.

What are you talking about?

I for one love the scenic beauty that is St. Louis north of Delmar Blvd.

You just can't beet a Fark party that you can walk to if you wanted.  I live about 20 blocks north of there.

Mrtraveler01:  I for one love the scenic beauty that is St. Louis north of Delmar Blvd.

There is a reason St Louis north of Delmar looks the way it does.  It rhymes with racism.  Oh wait, silly me.  It is racism.  Well, that and government corruption.

Insult Comic Bishounen: Grand_Moff_Joseph: Insult Comic Bishounen: I live out in O'Fallon, MO.  This could actually be feasible for me.  City Museum kicks ass anyway.

?? I'm not the only Farker in MO-Fallon??  Sweet!

Near Hwy K and N over here.  Used to live north of 70.

Ha! Another K&N Mo-Fallon farker here.  I'm supposed to be in Colorado that week for work, but it it falls through, I'm all for City Museum.  Maybe rent a party bus or shuttle to get the St. Charles Co peoples down to the city and back safely.

GODDAMNIT YOU FARKERS, GET YOUR ASSES TO THE CITY MUSEUM. IT'S PERFECT. I WILL BE ANGRY IF YOU SKIP IT. IT'S THE ONE THING I MISS FROM LIVING IN MISSOURI.

I wondered, too! Grew up in Weldon Springs. Live in SoCo now - work in Maplewood. I'd consider meeting up for a brew at the Bottleworks for sure!

OK, St. Louisans - time for The Question......
"Where did you go to high school?"

Me: St. Dominic, O'Fallon.

At first I was all, "But I'm living in Japan now  :-( " , but then I remembered that I should be back in StL by then. Finally, a positive spin to put on that!

Count me as "highly likely".  I'll probably bring my saner half along, too.

2013-03-19 08:14:24 AM
I'm actually going to City Museum next week, on the way to Columbia to see family.

I'll have to plan another visit to go to this party. Maybe the Blues will still be playing (fingers crossed).

Okay, here are some links from what I believe was the last Fark party in STL, on January 27, 2007 at Lemmon's on Gravois. Farker Megain traveled by Amtrak from KC and took pictures. Here's the thread announcing it. Remember Myspace?:

Here's the follow-up thread:

And here's Megain's pictures of his trip and the party:

Sadly, I don't believe I have seen any of them active lately except for Megain.

Yeah, I remember that thread, and I did say that, albeit in a joking manner. ;-)
And if you want to see pics of me and the wifey (I'm even wearing a St. Pat's sweatshirt) check out the link to the 2007 STL party I posted above, which I'll save you the trouble of finding:

I've never had a chance to attend one of these before, so this may be a silly question:  Should we be trying to plan a weekend full of activity choices, or just concentrate on the specific day of 6/1?

If I come out for it, I'm coming for an entire weekend. I may fly to MN, kidnap  beatlefreak and drive down from there.

I've lurked on Fark for years. I just moved to St. Louis in January. I finally joined, and it's to say "hell yes, I will be there."

Wooo to everyone coming!  I think it's best to focus on the main event, and let people decide on unofficial satellite outings?  I haven't been to one either so I'm not 100% sure.

Hmm this is tempting
I might drive down as it will probably be cheaper than flying if I can split with folks.

EIP if you want to talk about a rideshare from MN or splitting a hotel room.
