Fark Party
Host: stainedglassdoll
Description: Saint Louis Fark Party, June 1 - Get drunk and climb on stuff, TODAY, storm or shine
Date/Time: June 1, 2013 - 07:30 PM (local time)
Party Info: Meet me in Saint Louis!  The Midwest gets no love, as Farkers tend to flock to either coast. :(

Saint Louis Fark Party, June 1 - Get drunk and climb on stuff

The party itself I'd like to have at the City Museum in Saint Louis, dubbed a "playground for adults", where you can get drunk and climb on and in all kinds of shiat (for a better glimpse, check out  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whf1SR7ZAxc). It's the kind of place that would be perfect for a bunch of Farkers. General admission on the weekends is $10 after 5 pm.

For those of you that want to hang out for the weekend, Saint Louis has a ton of great stuff to do in the summer. Aside from the Arch (you can ride up to the top!), there is a great park called Forest Park, that is home to many museums and an awesome freakin' zoo, all free to the public. There is a beautiful Botanical Gardens as well, that is lovely to walk around in. We could even have a picnic in the park, if anyone was interested.  There are lots of bars and a great foodie scene, as well. If any events during that weekend come up, I'll post them here as well. :)

If anyone wants to organize specific outings as a group, just post and we can use this thread for planning.

UPDATE: For hotel reservation information, Bukharin has set something up for farkers at the Rennaissance Grand. To reserve a room, you can contact him at Bukharin[nospam-﹫-backwards]krafartlu*com

Insult Comic Bishounen: I live out in O'Fallon, MO.  This could actually be feasible for me.  City Museum kicks ass anyway.

?? I'm not the only Farker in MO-Fallon??  Sweet!

This is likely the closest a Fark party will ever be to me. I'm a strong maybe.

Wish I could be there.

The last one I was at was at a place that served Black Thorn Pizza; I don't know if it was the restaurant itself or just a place that served it. Was anyone else there? There were only about a dozen people there and it was, gosh, maybe 6? years ago, maybe more. We also had a guest from KC who took pictures and posted them somewhere.

Maybe some of up could meet up at Bottleworks before hand, for dinner?

Popcorn Johnny: St Louis? Make it Kansas City, much more of a fun place to party.

You, sir, have no idea what you are talking about :D

I'd absolutely make that.  Would be good to get a nice drunk on before the City Museum so we can begin the injuries sooner rather than later.

I'll do my best.

The kids from my daughter's school went into the ball pit and sorted all of the balls by color. The staff was tremendously amused by that.

pre 9/11, my younger cousin did a cute kid routine and security let him take the stairs down from the top. we saw him through the little window of the washing machine and he beat us to the bottom too

So, how do these things work? Do we have to wear name tags with our fark handle? If that's the case, I'll be Pocket Ninja...I'm so getting laid.

Wow.  Do they go to a school for OCD children?

On another note, I'll put this on my calendar for things to do that night.

Will do my best to be there.
My beloved Redbirds host the Giants that weekend as well.

About  time I  find  some  fellow  residents of St. Chuck  on here!  I'm  marking  my  calendar  now!

I would be all for that. The only thing worse than driving in St. Charles County after a drink is driving in St. Louis, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County after a drink.

There are more St. Charles/St. Louis farkers than I would have guessed.  I don't know if mom will let me out of the basement for a party though.

Drinking? Climbing? What could go wrong?

Have your heard about our lovely STD rates? Lots to do in the Lou.

This place is @(#* amazing. I'm not sure if their rules changed but me and some college friends went around 6 years ago. 1) Showed up drunk. 2) Had Rum & Coke in my Nalgene. Paid the entrance fee and off I went. They have (had) a huge dodgeball pit. You could just set up and wail on people. Then climbed around all bits of the structures.

It was awesome.

City Museum rocks! I've bee there several times. But only during the day. And sober. Without farkers. This sounds like a grand party! I'm not going to go down the ten story corkscrew slide drunk. Unless there's a bucket at the bottom.

2013-03-18 04:50:33 PM
Summer road trip! I love City Museum.

Count me in.  Lurker and Soulard resident here.  I've been hoping a Fark party would come to Saint Louis for a long time; I'd love to see if all of you are as hideous as I've imagined.  As another poster asked...how do we get / stay in touch?

Well, for the purposes of this party, just keep this thread bookmarked.  It'll be updated with more info as we get closer to the date.

As we get closer to the event, would setting up a Google doc to track attendance be a good idea?  Or, is that adding complexity when it's not needed?

Probably not needed, unless people want to stay in the same hotels or something.  If a lot of people want to go to dinner, maybe we can make reservations.  But if people want to set up a communal document, by all means, go ahead.  This is my first rodeo so I'm not really sure what's usually done.

If people come in from out of town, corralling us all in one hotel is probably a good idea- it keeps people from getting lost and reduces the impact of any farkery or shenanigans that people may engage in.
