Based on this:

I'm thinking they nixed it because they were afraid her face would melt on re-entry.

Can you imagine the astronauts' faces if she hit a high note and blew out the station's windows?

I've always loved Sarah Brightman; she has an absolutely amazing voice.  I especially love it when she sings pieces from The Phantom of the Opera.  Which incidentally, Andrew Lloyd-Webber wrote for her.

When did she get the large breasts? I've loved her for years, and suddenly she shows up with those.

I agree - I watched Anna Netrebko in the Met's Lucia di Lammermoor  and she was absolutely amazing.  She and Natalie Dessay are probably two of the best sopranos in the world right now.  I was never a big Sarah Brightman fan...her voice was just too nasally for my tastes.

Now, if someone had kicked off Juan Diego Floréz off, I would be mad.  He and Alfie Boe are currently my favorite tenors (I wish Alfie did more opera).

Brightman is, and never was, an opera singer. She is a "show" singer -- she simply does not have the power and projection of an opera singer.

Nor the intelligence.  Of which a good bit is needed to create and sustain a character and musical interpretation over 3-4 hours.  I'm looking at you, Bocelli.

Yup, him too. And Susan Boyle - never could understand why she is thought to be so good -- moderately talented at best.
