Uh, Subby, Boeing has a huge plant in Washington, but it moved its headquarters to Chicago years ago.

The government shouldn't regulate drone crashes and burns.  Let the drone crashes and burns market decide!

Technically, Chicago is home to Boeing since they moved their headquarters in 2001. However, Boeing started out in Washington and still has a very large presence in the state.

Boeing still pays for all the legislation it wants here in Wa. State.

Gotta love a company that gets its name from the sound the parts make when they fall off their planes.

BOEING!!!!

Boeing may have its "headquarters" in Illinois, and be incorporated in Delaware;

But its "home"? Definitely Washington.

For the commercial section maybe; but BDS is located in the midwest mainly and southeast.

I'm sure no monies changed hands / promises of favors were made.

Of course, governmental laziness is a completely reasonable explanation as well.

Both can be true concurrently, though. I'd say there is about a 95% probability of the first scenario having merit; 94.8% probability of the second scenario being true.

Having this flying over the capitol had nothing to do with it.

You forgot Auburn.

Hmmmm.  Who else came out of Chicago Mr. President?

In other news, the collective outcry over a further infringing of our basic freedoms doesn't really have any relation to a Chicago-based company with a plant in our state.

This doesn't look like the smartest way to hold a drone.

Every company is based in Delaware because of the lack of usury laws and consumer protections.

Good. Some of my neighbors really need to be watched.
I of course, am a good, Constitution hating Patriot.

We need to take back the town name of Slaughter.

Yes Auburn was named Slaughter until some uppity New Yorkers thought to change the name to their hometown of Auburn.

/Slaughter for life yo!

Smoky Dragon Dish: This doesn't look like the smartest way to hold a drone.

[media.katu.com image 660x368]

I love how , with how many millions have been spent on drone technology, it still seems half of the drones end up mounting a disposable film camera. Seriously, the thing has a $1k optical chip for landscape recognition and flight stability, but falls back on a < $10 point-and-shoot for the images.

//well aware the 1k figure is out of my ... so I don't want to hear from any drone engineeers

2013-03-18 06:48:08 PM
I believe all the drones produced by Boeing are reconnaissance drones. GA makes the slightly more violent versions.

2013-03-18 09:20:21 PM
I came here to point out Illinois is home to Boeing, but I was beaten to the punch.

2013-03-19 01:14:10 AM
INSITU, the company that makes the drones is located in Bingen, WA. Boeing does not have much to do with it, AFAIK.

2013-03-19 04:53:21 AM
Why is this news? It didn't even pass its committee hearing, and never came up for a vote.
