There's really not enough details to debate this.  We have no idea of what transpired in the house.  The kid could have been aggressive, the guy could be a trigger happy murderer.

killershark: H31N0US: Yes, completely justified shooting an unarmed drunk kid. Blood cleans up easier than vomit.

I think the guy overreacted, which is something you shouldn't do if you have a gun. Simply turning on a light and asking what are you doing in my house would've adverted this tragedy. But the fact is that someone he didn't know broke into his house at 2:30 in the morning and he did what he thought was necessary to protect his family.

Along with the Steubenville rape case, this should be a wake-up call to parents who need to have frank discussions with their teenage kids about alcohol.

If someone enters a house at 2:30 in the morning that doesn't belong to them...eff that, interview is over.  If it were an intruder with bad intentions, the intruder could have already had his gun drawn and waiting for someone who wasn't as ready.  Someone who would be stupid enough to ask questions first.

Since this is FARK I'm sure there will be plenty of argument over this situation but there really shouldn't be. Homeowner did what most reasonable people would do faced with similar circumstances in this day and age. I'm sure he will have many sleepless nights headed his way over the fact that he killed a kid but the kid left him little choice.
