When it comes to local politics, this kind of stuff matters.

This is all part of the conservative think tank's plan: attack ads that were obviously generated by those dirty cheating progressives.

The berries looked like stock footage to me

My grandmother is from Plant City, so my family is only allowed to buy Florida strawberries (as opposed to California).  I don't think we ever worried about which county they came from, but that might be because we live a few states away.

/getting a kick, etc.

Berries grown in sub-tropical zones suck.   I wouldn't touch any of that bland busted fruit from south of the 40th parallel.

Plant City strawberries are serious business. When the Plant City ones are in season, all the grocery stores make sure to advertise that their berries are from there and not anywhere else.

Oh yes. More than it should, to the hilarity of nearby counties.

I remember going to the strawberry festivals as a kid.

Serious business indeed.

Also delicious.

Beg pardon, but I was led to believe once that Hammond, Louisiana (it's across the lake from New Orleans), was the Strawberry Capital of America.

and This.

I live one town over from Plant City (Lakeland), and Strawberries are a BIG deal down here.  They're a fairly big piece of the local economy is tied up in it.

/ Also in oranges, tomatoes, and Publix
// Strawberries bought in-season down here are breathtakingly good.
