Surool: FirstNationalBastard: So, basically, don't have an opinion if it doesn't match yours?

How did you get that from what I said? I said, if it has been that terrible for you for so long, stop watching. I didn't say you couldn't hate it, I just don't understand how you can keep watching. Turn off the TV and wait until the next showrunner comes along and try it again.

Ugh...what a luddite. Let me fill you in on how this works, especially since the Internet went big.

If you don't like a show, you don't stop watching it. In fact, the more you dislike a show, the more obliged you are to keep watching it, in case you might miss something you  really hate. That way, you're up to date on the latest complaints and can tell anyone, anywhere, and any time how much you dislike the show in the most current and holistic way possible. Especially if you have to go out of your way to complain about it, in fact the further out of your way you have to go the more important it is to do it, because otherwise people won't know how much you  really hate the show.

Don't let anyone tell you to stop watching it and find something to do with your time you actually like, because the payoff of watching something you hate just to complain about it later is too big to ignore. And, whatever you do,  never ever let anyone tell you to skip complaining about it, because if you don't complain about watching it, why are you even suffering through it to begin with?

100 Watt Walrus: ykarie: And the other detail that I missed was the proof that River probably does know his real name, and at least knows the name he went to academy under. This image dug up by some farkers back in 2010 proves it.

What proof was required beyond 10 saying she whispered his name to him in the library?

I think he meant that the Doctor's statements can't be taken too authoritatively, given Rule No. 1, but that the inscription below "Hello Sweetie" in the oldest graffiti in the universe demonstrates that she at least knows the name he used at the academy.

Speaking of River, I posted this evening something in the other concurrent DW thread, that had just occurred to me: The Doctor married step-sisters, and Amy is his double mother-in-law, owing to her accidental marriage to Henry VIII in "The Power of Three". Ten told Ood Sigma at the start of "The End of Time" that he married Elizabeth I after "The Waters of Mars".

demonfaerie: Doctor Who fans take this show way to farking seriously.

1.  Mind telling that to fans of "The Walking Dead", "Breaking Bad", and just about every hit series that had a following?

2.  You must be fun at parties.

There are laws. There are laws of posting in DW threads. Once upon a time there were mods in charge of those laws but they died. They all died. Do you know who that leaves? Me! It's taken me all these years to realize that the laws of posting are mine and they will obey me!

I no longer watch "Dr. Who." The production values are too good. I want to see cheesy props and clumsy special effects, like the old days. I want to see the wires the tardis is hanging from. On top of that, and I don't know if this is true of British TV in general or just this show, they don't know how to end an episode. On American TV the adventure and suspense goes on right until the very last minute, the problem is resolved and everyone high fives or someone states the important lesson they've all learned. Then it's final credits and a commercial. On Dr. Who, everything gets resolved with ten minutes to spare and the rest of the show is spent on character development and angst-y hand-wringing. They don't even set up a decent cliffhanger for the next episode. I don't remember that from the Tom Baker episodes I used to watch. It may be a British thing, but I find it disappointing, unappealing, and ultimately, annoying. I've got better things to do than watch Matt Smith get all weepy about how his best friends have been erased from time... forever! I just want to smack him.

Sorry.

ApatheticMonkey: Is anyone else wondering if Clara is going to die in every episode a la Kenny from South Park?  I mean, she has died in every episode she's been in so far.

They tried that already
