1) Religious nuts, who won't pass muster in the national electorate
2) Economic nuts, ditto
3) Folks in BOTH 1 and 2, double-ditto
4) North-East RINOs, who won't pass muster with the base in the GOP Primaries

Can we do an over/under bet on the total number of votes for OH Sen Rob Portman.  Cause either way its going to be funny as shiat.

Wow...Republicans really don't want to win the White House.

2013-03-16 12:36:48 PM
Of course Scott Walker did.  He's put WI's economy behind both the national average and (more tellingly) behind all the other states in the region.  He's only ~210k jobs away from hitting his 4-yr plan to create 250k jobs, at the *halfway point*.  Plus Forbes recently projected WI to be 2nd-worst in economic development thru 2016.  Scott Walker for President because excellent track record.

2013-03-16 12:46:53 PM
They should definitely run creepy Walker. He'll do great on the national stage. I swear. And they should dredge up Palin or Ryan for VP.

A small price to pay to stick it to the libs and put down unions.

No it wouldn't.  He's just as much an economic "genius" as Paul Ryan.

The list reads like a circus roster. Are Republicans ever again going to become intellectually serious? Where the hell are the Eisenhowers? Well, I know where they are...pushed out of the party either into being Democrats or judged unworthy of Republican support as RINOs.

Well, he did serve as GW Bush's Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget during the time in which that Administration turned a budget surplus into a huge deficit, so he's got that economic genius going for him.

Double dammit! Selling everything not nailed down + tax cuts =/= good policy

2013-03-16 01:42:21 PM
Meanwhile, Chris Christie, who polls show at least runs well against the most likely Democratic candidates in 2016, isn't invited to CPAC because he's not conservative enough.

Not that I think it would have been wise for him to show up for this freakshow.

Good policy is anathema to modern conservatism.

I love how it's a straw poll to go with all of the straw man arguments.  I guess they have to pick the best one for that job.

Wait, why would Democrats twitch again.

We'd just be watching a Hispanic Mitt Romney and a slightly smarter version of Sarah Palin run.

To be fair the front runners have never done well in primaries.
Just ask:
Huckabee,
Perry,
Cain,
Gingrich
etc etc

Not that I think their final decision will be that much better...

Some of these are governors who are going to get suckered into sign on to Obamacare. They may as well set fire to their Republican card while they're at it.

Ron Paul has wont this thing for the past 2 or 3 years I think.

These straw polls mean nothing outside of bored political junkies.

Corporate lackies like Walker, economic ignoramuses like Ryan, former Bushies like Daniels, mental defectives like Perry and Palin, Bible Belters like Frothy Santorum  "we got one too" ethnic candidates like Jindal and the chick with the stripper name and some big guy who wasn't even invited to CPAC who's already been labelled a RINO?

So...?

GOP 2016 "We still got a wide variety of nothing."

Yeah, good luck with all that.

I don't get it. Will the libs be twitching because the Republicans will be making racist jokes about their own candidates? Or is this one of those "we got us some darkies so now we will win for sure" things that out-of-touch Republicans like to proclaim?

If I recall right, they way the GOP does things is the one who came in second becomes the candidate next time.
So that would mean Santorum.  I hope that comes to pass. If Santorum doesn't become the candidate I will be sad.

The only way they will win is if they can figure out a way to gerrymander the national election.
