I can't wait. I like the idea that they were thinking that "this year" might be a good year to do this show. It shows promise of seasons to come. OR, of course it could be that they need to do it this year because it might be the last.

Anyway, Season 1 blew Season 2 away, but I liked both.

Also, that website sucks. I'm supposed to allow "secureserver.net" to see the content? I couldn't even get secureserver.net to load.

YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!

I'm excited to see how they make up for the travesty that was Season 2.

Season 2 was still pretty good. Just all over the place and too much going on.

I had a hard time keeping interest past episode 8 or 9 this season.  Maybe I'll let some time pass and give it another shot.  :)

Season 4 - killer clowns (from outer space optional)
Season 5 - 80s slasher throwback

My only problem was that they killed off the 2 strongest characters in the same episode in season 2.  i could have done without the alien subplot and been ok though.

It's being filmed in New Orleans. So...phark yeah.

I think Season 2 was far superior than Season 1. Season 2 actually had characters I liked.

Didn't watch Season 1, but loved Season 2 to be hooked.

Hope that the split-season pacing is better. It's jarring to see it start around Halloween and end in January.

Massachusetts's hottest club is Briarcliff Asylum.  Built from the bucket list of a dying pervert, this party literally has everything: vagina-faced aliens, Devil-possessed nuns, pinheads, Nazi doctors, evil priests, nymphomanic zombies, lesbian reporters, the Angel of Death, Anne Frank, a murderous Santa. And just when you think the fun is over, "knock, knock", who's at the door? It's Dylan McDermott drinking milk out of a hooker's breast!

/Season 2 was a hot mess, but that is why I loved it so much.

that was one of my complaints too. They wound the show down a bit too early and the last episode was a bit too neat, in my opinion. I also initially didn't really like how they seemed to be throwing a bunch of stuff together to see what works, but it eventually turned out great for a while.

Doctor Who has always struck me as nothing more than a Dues ex machina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_ex_machina) story... like how the sonic screwdriver always has just the right setting far beyond what it was once described as being able to do.

The show has a lot of "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we had an X and a Y?" moments (in this case where X=possessed nun and Y=Nazi doctor doing horrific human experiments), without actually having an idea of how or why they fit into the planned(?) narrative. I think they realized that they had no clue what to do with Rabe and Cromwell's characters once they had accomplished their short term goals of stirring shiat up in the asylum.

For all its flaws, as long as Jessica Lange keeps killing it (and she's been killing it since the early 80's so there's no reason to think she'd stop) and each season has a few moments like this, I'm on board.

There was not even enough alien sub-plot to fill 30 minutes of air time.

Hopefully `merikun scenery-chewer can keep season three a little more focused than the last one.

It's amusing, because with that simple line, Mike Borchardt (the subject of the documentary) reveals why he has been so unsuccessful in life. He refuses to ever admit when he was wrong, or to change his ways even a *little bit*. He's convinced of his own greatness.

It is a good movie, but I never understood why people had such affection for Mike Borchardt. He's a douchebag. I suppose not everybody lives in the Midwest, where white-trash guys just like him are a dime-a-dozen, and easily ignored.

Seriously, when I read the headling I thought maybe Mike Borchardt had a kickstarter campaign going to fund a properly budgeted remake....

Am I the only one who couldn't get through Season 2? The plot was all over the place- just a pastiche of every horror movie trope. Jessica Lange was fabulous as always, but I just couldn't find it as interesting as the first season.

Not only that, but you seem to think folks in a Doctor Who thread wouldn't know the concept of Deus ex machina.

So is it only going to be about witches then? But how can you cram in ten different subplots about alien abductions, Nazis and demon possession only focusing on witches?

I don't really "get" that character on SNL, but my girlfriend does so I made her read your comment and she said it was funny. So I gave you a "funny" vote. Then I read your comment out loud in Stefan's voice and cadence and she literally laughed out loud.

So...good job...and thanks for writing a joke that I could perform that made her laugh!

The plot was all over the place in the first season too, just using every haunted house trope. That's sort of the point of the show you know. Horror movie fans can play "spot-the-influence" in almost every scene and that's hardly by accident. The same guy is behind "Glee" you know, and he takes the same approach to both shows. Damn straight it's over the top.

First season was wow. Second season was, I got to talk about it.

2013-03-17 02:29:38 AM
What was so great about the first season? Did you root for Dylan McDermonett's character, or his horrible wife, or their annoying daughter? I wanted them to die horribly the minute I met the three.

Hell Jessica Lange was a semi-villain and she was the only character I sympathized with the entire season.

And all the haunted house stuff got stupid. There were more people in that basement than in some apartment buildings.

Season Two was wicked cool with the 60s asylum and and the pinheads and the crazy Nazi doctor and nuns and stuff. Season One was just weak in comparison.

2013-03-17 03:21:55 AM
I clicked on this because I thought it might be a bio movie about the singing group who had their 'one hit wonder' "One Tin Soldier" which was the theme song to "Billy Jack". they actually seemed to have talent but personal issues seemed to get in the way.

I think it would have made a better and more interesting movie than another horror story. Haven't we have enough of these already? Its bad enough we have to have them in real life but to we have to pay to see more of them for entertainment? All you have to do is watch the local news or catch reports from Oakland CA.

Apparently in some locations, St. Patrick's is Opposite Day. Season One was terrible, not one character in the bunch worth saving and just to drive home how awful they were, the real villain of the piece was whoever wrote "and Dylan McDermott weeps fountains while masturbating and we make everyone look at his backside".

And least season two had characters with redeemable qualities and some decent writing. And Ian McShane in a bloody Santa Claus suit.

It's like I don't even know you, Fark.

I haven't seen the first season since it aired, but though i recall thinking that it felt made up as it went along, I thought it was fairly streamlined. Even if it was every Haunted House trope thrown into one season, I thought it was way less messy than "throw in every horror trope from multiple Horror subgenres!"; though I do think Season 2 had better individual moments, even if it wasn't as strong overall.
