Well subby, why do you insist that the economy is "rolling" despite the business owners' refusal to hire and give raises to their employees (even though they are celebrating record profits and are hoarding a large amount of capital)?

/Yes, I'm hatin'

I believe the problem is due to the well-known age old political philosophy known as "fark You, I Got Mine."

I think that's been replaced by a new political philosophy known as, "Fark You, I Got Mine. But see you still have, so I gonna' get yours!"

Well, at some point people have to start buying things again. Cars die, electronics short out, cat towers get clawed to hell. And the gorgeous Fire Emblem 3DS is out.

This economy has been great for me.  Gainfully employed in a state that's relatively cheap to live in.  If I didn't read about it in the news everyday I wouldn't know there's a recession going on at all.

It's funny that things started to really pick up when we increased taxes on the rich.  The main way to increase employment in a low tax environment is to raise taxes and yes, right now the taxes on the very rich are very low.  They have so many avoidance schemes the base rate is a joke.

Economy does well in spite of Obama.
or
Obama ruining the economy.

Pick one.  Or none.  They're both stupid.

That's because the form of 'taxes' that really count aren't 1,2, or 4% on marginal income.

When Regan "cut taxes" he cut taxes in HALF for a whole lot of people, but he also ended the tax deduction for 'personal interest'.

When Kennedy cut taxes and the economy grew, he was a) lowering an emergency tax because they'd just paid off another load of war bonds and b) we had the only functional economy in the world.

Trying to beat China and India won't work.

You don't get yourself out of a hole by dividing up all the wood and figuring that the ingenuity of the people in the hole is going to get you out. You take all the wood and build a single damn ladder and let everyone out.

I dunno man. Seems like you could just take a couple sticks of the wood yourself and get out by stabbing them into the sides like an ice climber would. But you feel free to believe in your magical ladder economy where hammers and nails exist.
