Parents, your children are more likely to be struck by lightning than die in a mass school shooting.  So please, keep them inside forever so they don't reproduce and spread your paranoia into the gene pool.

I don't support the spread of widespread paranoia, but, if a mother saw something suspicious at a school, didn't say anything out of fear of being called "paranoid", and tons of kids died from the subsequent rampage, she'd be crucified.

If anyone ever wanted to go shoot up a school - now would be the absolute best time. They already got one false report - the next one will be as slow or slower (rightfully so)

She put a whole school on lockdown because she saw what she WANTED to see. If I was the cleaning guy - i'd be pretty pissed if some dumb broad called the cops on me for doing my job. God help the guy if he's black or something, what with all the "I had to shoot him he was making a threatening advance" stories we hear.

Sounds to me like the mom needs some REAL terror in her life so she will know to STFU in regular situations.

biatch should be charged for every cent her little false alarm cost the juristiction. Try calling an ambulance for a medical scare and see if it's farking free.

16 minutes for a "low priority" call is actually pretty quick.  I'm sure, since she was calling from her car and watching the guy, had he gone up to the school or displayed anything that looked like a weapon, and had she conveyed such to the 9-1-1 dispatcher, they would have escalated the call.

As it was, pulling a body from a lake isn't something you just drop because of a "suspicious person", it's almost as though suspicions and threats are two different things.

Next, we're going to see a series of response-to-school drills by police departments causing all sorts of panic ("They didn't tell the parents anything, we thought something serious was really happening!!!")

I also don't think highly of sending a 2 year old to school... parents seem to want their kids out of their hair as soon as they can walk.

Because they've answered enough calls by idiots to know when there isn't a real problem.  And they had someone from the school on the other line who likely was also pointing out the mother is a nut.

Daycare, dude. They call them "schools" for marketing purposes. Some people have to work for a living. Be nice.

They had a school employee on the other line and they've got a little more than a days experience working at 911 dispatch.  Don't you just suppose they knew how to assess the situation accurately from the multiple calls and rightly de-prioritized it?  Just try to imagine the conversations in the real world and not hypothetical world.  2 minutes of talking to a school employee would've made it obvious the guy wasn't putting together his sniper rifle.

I have to call BS on anything but hysterical paranoia here... If I had kids, and if I was dropping them off at school and saw a suspicious person in the parking lot, you better believe I wouldn't "rush them inside", I'd take them back to the car, drive a safe ways away, then make calls to the police and/or school's office, and await the situation to be resolved.

What if this guy was just a look out and there were others inside?  What if he gets spooked and moves up his time table once your kids are in... Great parenting.  Sounds like she just really needed attention (evidenced by this entire "story"), and was risking her kids lives so SHE could be a victim had something actually happened.

Other than being someone she didn't know, I don't see what the guy did that was suspicious.  I can just imagine what that 911 call sounded like.  "Someone has to get here quick!  My God now he's getting keys out of his pocket!!  We're all going to be killed!!"

It is humanity. We are paranoid by nature and the recent string of shootings have made it even worse. I cant really fault her much because that is what the parent is supposed to expect in this country now.

Given that part of Texas, and guy ended up being a new guy on the cleaning crew, he was probably just brown.  That neighborhood is pretty much golf course subdivisions and is one of the more monied sections of harris county

She should be charged for wasting  resources. I wonder if anyone died because 911 was too busy to answer all calls that morning. In that case that person's family should sue her for 2nd degree murder.

One good side effect of this hysteria is it takes away from fear of terrorist attacks. Which, I guess is good because I have less to do during false alarms. On the other hand, the funding is starting to diminish because the fear is subsiding.

She didn't even investigate, or for that matter, see anything suspicious. It's not like she had a reason to raise an alarm. if the cleaner did go on a rampage, she would not have been "correct" about anything at all. She would have been a paranoid person whose fantasies happened to match up with a reality that day. She would still have been disconnected from reality. her premises did not fit her conclusions, nor the evidence.
