In a way, they both should be in the HoF.  For they changed the career of a LOT of ballplayers by TJ surgery.

Tommy John.  Yet ANOTHER pitcher who should be in the Hall of Fame if Jack Morris gets in next year.

Having a procedure named after you isn't good enough to be considered famous?

The BBWA have their heads stuck up their asses permanently so it's best having your name live on forever be good enough.  Right Pete Rose?

I don't think Tommy John should be in the HoF.  I think a museum display or what have you is good enough to chronicle the revolution that T.J. surgery was.

Agreed there.  My point is just that Morris has a good shot at getting in next year, and Tommy John was better than he was.  Along with about 50 other pitchers who will never come close.

I hate the concept of "slippery slope"... but I think the HoF has become just that.  I really don't think Morris belongs.  Not even close.  But its gotten to the point where everyone says "If this guy is in, then this guy should be in".  Its a race to the bottom IMHO.

Many NY players shouldn't be in the HOF, but they are.
