At one point, a woman challenged him on the Republican Party's roots, to which Terry responded, "I didn't know the legacy of the Republican Party included women correcting men in public."

Ok, I'm pretty good at Poe's law but...I really can't tell.

Terry, who sported a Rick Santorum sticker and attended CPAC with a friend who wore a Confederate Flag-emblazoned t-shirt, about his views after the panel. Terry maintained that white people have been "systematically disenfranchised" by federal legislation.

As the Wharvey Gals would say "He's bona fide!"

I work for a university. If was full on bestiality porn, it would be better than a supremacist site.

When asked by ThinkProgress if he'd accept a society where African-Americans were permanently subservient to whites, he said "I'd be fine with that." He also claimed that African-Americans "should be allowed to vote in Africa," and that "all the Tea Parties" were concerned with the same racial problems that he was.

So .... calling Tea Partiers racist is correct?

2013-03-15 05:24:07 PM
Damn Teabaggers.

Let's keep the facts straight, people.

After the presenter, K. Carl Smith of Frederick Douglass Republicans, answered by referencing a letter by Frederick Douglass forgiving his former master, the audience member said "For what? For feeding him and housing him?" Several people in the audience cheered and applauded Terry's outburst.

Stay classy Republicans.

This is what (some) CPAC attendees actually believe.

I don't get it. They act like they were the ones doing it- defensive and defiant.

Is the rape discussion panel scheduled for tomorrow? Will this guy show up and say that, while disgusting, it's in no way a violation of a black woman's right to go all rapity-rape on her any time a white guy feels like it?

See, that's the thing. It's not so much that there's a random dude with some abhorrent views, it's that he has so much backup.

Please, feel free to speak your minds, you horribly put-upon White folks.  Just let it all out, never mind the PC police.  Vent all you want.  It's important that we know exactly how you feel.  Proceed.

2013-03-15 05:36:36 PM
Not that I don't think CPAC is full of bigots, but it seems a bit silly to label them all racists because of the outburst of one stupid man.
It would be like someone shiatting on a cop car at a OWS protest and labeling them all as car-shiatters ....

2013-03-15 05:36:56 PM
In any case, this CPAC show is a refreshing change from SXSW and TED Talks.  Gotta mix up the entertainment a bit.

So, where does that mean you should vote? Terry...I'm guessing maybe Ireland?

For fark's sake, GOP, you have got to smack down these morons.

The Republican "reach out" to non-Republicans is going swimmingly so far!

My favorite part is when Lena Dunham can't figure out if the guy is serious or not.  You can't be that surprised that this is what republicans actually believe unless you haven't been paying attention for a very long time.

Only for Tea partiers who aren't racist.

..or something like that

It's times like this that I really feel sorry for black Republicans. There's simply no way for them to defend this kind of bullshiat. Even my quite racist grandfather doesn't say shiat like that. But then, he's a Democrat.

I think the article exaggerated a bit. Several  people in the audience seemed uncomfortable during the exchange, and I didn't really hear cheers ... more laughter. A few (couple?) people clapped, but I wouldn't call it applause. I think a lot of the people in the room were innocent bystanders hoping this was some misguided piece of performance art.

So we're now applauding somebody shiatting on Frederick Farking Douglass........................

I don't even have words for this.

Part of me wants to believe that this is satire. but I just can't help but get that feeling that this might not be.  This is a new level of Poe's Law.

I spent a good five minutes looking for some evidence that this could be a parody.  I mean, it has to be, right?  Republicans can't actually let their official convention espouse racism and sexism that flagrant without denial and reprisal, can they?

/yes they can
