I can't believe I forgot about Scum of the Earth, especially since I just saw that episode of WKRP the other day.

full episode here
Sorry, can't find a version without commercials.

Johnny Fever: Are you sure you're Scum?
Scum bandmember: Positive
Carlson: Of course they are
Jennifer: Where is Mr. Peavey? (the promoter)
Scumr: He got out of the car. That's actually the last we saw of him I think.
Fever: Was the car moving when he got out?
Scum: Yes, I believe it was.
Carlson: Why would he do a thing like that?
Scum: We don't know, but that's our story and we're sticking to it
Fever: Yeah, these are the guys

Getting really obscure here, I have done a cover of "It Couldn't Be Ann" by Circus Monkey, a fictitious band from the movie Bandwagon.

An excellent film, sir or madam, but probably obscure outside of Canada.

Quentin Tarantino released it in the US as "QT presents: Hard Core Logo"

[upcomingdiscs.com image 334x475]

That box cover makes it look like QT had something to do with making the film, it's misleading.

Loved the Bugaloos SOOO much back in '71.  Phil Collins came close to winning the I.Q. role - thankfully, that didn't happen.  Courage, on the other hand, was quite hunky.

BTW: I just remembered that Potsie, Ralph Malph, and Richie C's Band That Could Never Be Named had also been forgotten.  That ginger boy sure could blow a mean sax.

Show me another band that could accomplish what this one did. Easily the best fictional band. Fail article is a failure.

If you don't limit yourself to TV and movies..  well, there's The Tauren Chieftains, best metal band on Azeroth.  Granted, they have just that one song, 'The Power of the Horde', but it's quite good.

Before I clicked I thought, "Spinal Tap has to be #1".   After I clicked and saw ST at #2, I accepted their logic that Dr Teeth and Electric Mayhem deserved the #1 slot.

Yes, just threw them in for some comedy relief. If I remember correctly they were a manufactured band from across the pond that didn't quite catch on in States, well they were a splash but they didn't last.  That was off top of head, I could be wrong.

I don't care who you are, or what your opinion of that band is, "saturday night" is a great song.

but they were a Boy band during the time they were out. outfitted with an image and the darling of the teenage photo magazines.

but then, so were the jackson five.. and so were the beatles. rolling stones, etc, etc etc.

I think the bay city rollers would have done better in the great legacy of Pop music over all but they came out at a time when costumed, or uniformed Pop bands were falling out of general favor with the populace. So, they got stuck with the Teeny bopper fluff label.

For me, the list is failing without...
