But is violence still abundant?

It's not even that studios and movie producers don't want sex scenes, it's that nearly every one of the leading ladies on film today refuse to do them, and have it written into their contracts stating that they won't do them.

I think this is HBO's fault, they've used up all the sex scenes available in Game of the Throne and Girls.

I haven't even seen one scene where someone rips off someone else's head and stumpfarks the corpse.

Hollywood isn't out of sex scenes, not by a longshot.

Come to think of it, Mrs. Eel and I haven't seen a good steamy movie in theatres since "The Thomas Crown Affair" and that was 1999.

Sex and nudity is not degrading.

How it's presented can be degrading, juvenile, and sophomoric but then that could be the artistic point.

It's the rare sex scene in a movie that doesn't feel forced and out of place as clearly nothing more than a "Hey, come see this movie, it's got tits!" moment.  That's what I mean by it being degrading, that you should see the movie not because this actress is good, but because of her tits.

So no, I don't blame them for writing clauses about how they won't do them.

2013-03-15 03:31:04 PM
It is because of the internet.  Used to be to see sex, one had to go see a Hard-R rated movie, or check out the annual "Sex in Cinema" edition of Playboy.  That or go to the dodgy liquor store or adult materials store and get it there.

Now people can see real sex any time they want, so a sex scene in a movie is unnecessary.

Speaking of forced and out of place, there's not enough anal sex in Hollywood movies. I mean, you never have a guy in a movie making a woman scream by pulling out of her ass and wiping his fecal-smeared dick on the curtains.

/A scene like that would have really made, say, Lincoln a more interesting movie.

I watched Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, though only the Swedish version, which was somehow more explicit than the American I've heard?

I don't remember anyone complaining (except for homophobes, perhaps) about seeing Kevin Bacon's bacon in Wild Things. Nudity isn't naturally degrading, prudes. More often than not, the effect of avoiding nudity with the camera draws me completely out of a film.

both did a pretty amazing job of totally capturing the insanity of rape and revenge
swedish was a bit more explicit, but both were full blown level-11 triggers.

Last one I recall was in "A History of Violence" (2005). Though to be fair there was no way that movie was going to get a PG-13 rating even without the sex.

some guy here said he took a date to the movie, not knowing what it is about (i don't eitehr, but i guess there's some kind of intense implied anal rape scene).  he was like, "so when that scene happened, I turned to my date and said, 'i'm really, really sorry, we can leave if you want to, i understand completely.'"

i did that thing where you quote somebody but change what they said to where his quote appeared as:  ""so when that scene happened, I turned to my date and said, 'that's gonna be me and you in about 90 minutes.'"

Well there's your problem.

If Hollywood ever realizes they could make films by hiring actors instead of celebrities, who knows what kind of crazy things might happen!

The only sex scene I remember in that movie was this disturbing kind-of-rape by the Viggo Mortensen character of his wife after she finds out that he's actually a scary ex-criminal dude. I know that's some peoples' thing but not really a traditional sex scene as such.

It was a scene. And there was sex. What more do you want? Also there was an earlier scene with her dressed as a cheerleader. Though I can't recall if there was any actual on-screen sex during that one.

That is weird.  I prosecuted one of the cases that the movie Compliance was based on.  I had no idea they made a movie about it.  I did know they made a L&O:SVU episode about it with Robin Williams.

Oh, you mean the same super-realistic sex scene Hollywood has been making for years where the couple has sex under the covers with all of their clothes on, then makes sure to cover up completely with those specially-shaped sheets while they talk afterward? They're out of that scene? Darn.

This is why you can't actually film live actors having a sex scene in a comic book movie. I wasn't the only one in the theater who actually laughed.

Commenting from subby's headline alone: how damn difficult is it to write a sexy scene for two natural-born attention whores (actors)?

Here's one for the hell of it:

Scene: hipster's apartment at night, closeup of scarred couch in living room:

Taylor (male lead):  Uh, Like,  I wanna f*ck.

Taylor (female lead): Uh, OK, Like, we have the same name! Sounds, like, it was, like meant to, like be!

The two characters f*ck.

Is that so difficult, "Hollywood?"
