That's the worst drawing of Michelle Obama I've ever seen. Well, it's the only drawing of her I've ever seen, but it's still goddamn awful.

This.  I know who most of those people are (not the author) and I only recognized Ann Coulter.

Yup, me too. He's a talented portrait artist, as long as the portrait doesn't need to look like its subject.

I could have believed "Michelle Obama" if it was labeled "Arianna Huffington".

She gets Bill Kristol's douche face right.

I think that's supposed to be Michelle Bachmann, not Michelle Obawmuh.

Regardless, this guy has talent. It's clear he's been influenced by El Greco:

And possible Egon Schiele:

It doesn't have to be pretty to be infuential.

It's how old white people see all black women.  They wind up looking like a combination of Julia Child and Maureen Stapleton.

I dunno. They're hardly any worse than the contributors' sketches in the NYT.

The pic labelled Michelle Obama was posted on the blog on November 7.  I only looked briefly but CSPAN doesn't seem to indicate that Michelle Obama was interviewed on that day.  Being as it was the day after the election, I'm pretty damn sure she wouldn't be anyway.

In any case, CSPAN's timeline suggests that Kelly A. Ayotte was interviewed.  I happen to think she bears a passing resemblance to the picture but I'll have to leave it to the opinion of the crowd.

ukexpat: Is he some kind of idiot savant? That can be the only explanation.

Trump is extremely good at one thing: Self promotion. He has built himself into a brand. But he's not really what he pretends to be. In many cases he only owns small interests in the buildings that bear his name. It's widely thought that he isn't worth as much as he claims. He is believed to be pretty seriously leveraged, and that he actually does the reality TV stuff because he needs the money.

Now, it may be that his talent at self promotion is failing him, with his increasing public insanity starting to hurt the brand.

My feelings exactly. Good for this guy. He's not presenting himslef as a proffessional - exactly the opposite. So a lot of the hating just looks childish. This is just an old retiree saying "here's some stuff I drew in 30 minutes or less just to see what happens".

I completely dig it.

The My Little Pony Killer: How do you draw that often without figuring out how to draw?

Ignoring the fact that caricatures are a specific art style, I think you should ask your question to the entire field of abstract and modern art.

Ah, but caricatures are supposed to look like who they represent, right? These drawings don't. And I'm asking my question of this person because the thread is about them, not the entire field of abstract and modern art.

I'm just saying, everything's relative, and looked at in that light, he's figured out how to draw better than probably half of what a lot of people consider "good" artists.
