The lesson here should be don't cry underage prostitutes unless they're actually involved.  That is all people are going to focus on.

A Democrat that likes to get a little side action? Hell let's make him President give both houses of Congress to the Republicans and lets rock and roll. They'll be so busy impeaching his arse we can get the economy rolling again!!

It worked really well last time.

The trick is getting anywhere near a conviction, as this other NJ Goldman Sachs Democrat could tell you.

At least regarding Corzine's corruption, the esteemed and noble all-seeing financial industry watchdog Elizabeth Warren has said...nothing.

An accidental oversight, I'm sure.

However, I wonder if this thing would have all blown over if it hadn't been for the prostitution angle to the story.

Maybe, the Rangel thing didn't involve prostitutes but it still became a thing.  Depends on if there's really something happening.  I remember a couple of years ago the republicans tried to stir up some controversy about Harry Reid's real estate investments and that went nowhere.  The public is fickle.

This is a really big talking point.  If you Google Corzine and Warren the right is foaming at the mouth about her not saying anything about him.

A federal grand jury in Miami is investigating Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), examining his role in advocating for the business interests of a wealthy donor and friend, according to three people aware of the probe.

Do these three people actually exist, or are they just three different hotmail accounts?
I'm not saying he didn't do something wrong, but the Post has a history of crying wolf with this guy.

I want to know what Eric Holder said about Watergate back in the 70s.  This is serious business.

2013-03-15 10:49:32 AM
Things I want to know:

What Alberto Gonzalez thought about Ruby Ridge.

What John Ashcroft thought about Waco.

What Eric Holder thought about the firing of U.S. Attorneys.

What Janet Reno thought about the Lindbergh baby.

What Jerry Springer thought about Liz Taylor and Richard Burton.

What Joe Mantegna thought about the Zodiac Killer.

What Lindsay Lohan thought about Studio 54.

2013-03-15 10:51:27 AM
I don't think there were a lot of people saying Menendez isn't corrupt, just that the prostitution angle was thin on evidence (as opposed to the Melgen angle) and a distraction.

2013-03-15 10:51:57 AM
FTFA: Menendez has intervened in matters affecting the financial interests of Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen, seeking to apply pressure on the Dominican government to honor a contract with Melgen's port-security company, documents and interviews show. Also, Menendez's office has acknowledged he interceded with federal health-care officials after they said that Melgen had overbilled the U.S. government for care at his clinic.

If there is evidence, I hope they charge the Senator. That being said, innocent until proven guilty and all that.

2013-03-15 10:57:06 AM
Who says a corrupt democrat is impossible?
We just don't re-elect them or put them in kush jobs at Fox News after the scandal, so it's hard for them to remain in the public eye.

2013-03-15 10:58:23 AM
Wow, that's a hell of a lot of butthurt in one headline.  IIRC from the few threads I've perused about Menendez, most people felt the relationship between Menendez and Melgen was the thing to focus on, not this he said/she said stuff about the hookers that appears to have completely fallen apart. And it looks like that is what is happening. Seems to me the system is working... let the chips fall where they may.

She's stubbornly refusing to find a Democratic analogue for each and every Republican scandal, which means she's violating the US Constitution of the United States by not being Fair and Balanced.

Sigh. We've been over this.

Sarah Palin is President, Paul Ryan is SecTreas, and John Boenher personally gets to tie the nooses we use to hang all those Marxist traitors that hate our natural betters and rulers, rich white people.

I heard a lot of people calling the whole underage prostitutes thing into question.  I never heard anyone say he should go completely uninvestigated.  But then, I don't watch FOX or listen to Rush, so how would I know what the MSM and other liberals say about Menendez?

Does every Democrat have a time machine?

Also I am really confused by this headline.

2013-03-15 12:03:05 PM
Hey, subby, nice headline (seriously), but do you think that maybe the bad reporting from the Daily Caller might have poisoned the well in regards to the case against Menendez, the same way that "Friends of Hamas" blunted some of the attacks against Hagel?

Given the obvious hit job that Tucker Carlson's vanity project did on Menendez, I'm more inclined to wait out the charges and see what the feds actually have on him first.

He's clearly pulled some nasty shiat that started coming out since November.   Minimum: bribes for political influence.  Maximum: soliciting child prostitution

There are two tiers of guilt here.  Ethical and criminal.  Based solely on what he has already admitted, he is already guilty of serious ethical violations and should resign (e.g., $56K in gifts accepted in 2010).

2013-03-15 12:14:11 PM
Menendez said he wrote Melgen a personal check this winter for $58,500 to reimburse him for the plane rides. The Senate Ethics Committee is investigating why Menendez did not disclose the flights sooner.

Why didn't he disclose the 2010 flights sooner? They need an investigation to determine that? Duh, he didn't get caught sooner.

Why would you disclose bribes after they were revealed?  I think this is the tip of the iceberg but it is (in and of itself) enough to sink him.
