LasersHurt: Thread about Samsung = dozens of posts crying about Apple.

You guys are adorable.

I love that TFA is about Samsung and its comments is filled with Samsung vs Google fans (virtually no iPhone fans as I can tell), yet everyone here thinks TFA is some how about Apple.

Right, I forgot, we should have no concern whatsoever for anything anybody does here because there are kids starving in Africa.

There's no point in responding, he obviously saw the hypocrisy in complaining about complaining on the internet and has sold his worldly possessions and joined the Salvation Army to help all the impoverished nations.

New Samsung phone includes a new input method that you can turn off if you don't like it. lol it's soooo stupid they did that.

Karne: Sounds like you need to make some personal achievements beyond being a product consumer.  I mean you are actually bragging about these things like you did something great and it makes you amazing or special..

It makes me feel all manly and macho.I spend the rest of the day giving high fives.

I have a HTC One X.   It was the best on the market when I bought it. The S3 hadn't come out yet.

/Probably would have still bought the OneX
//My HTC Desire was easily the best on the market when I bought that.
///By "best" I mean for my needs and uses. YMMV of course.

Mentat: MightyPez: DrPainMD: All smart phones spy on you all the time. The STASI wish they had the technology that the NSA has. Nuke the NSA from orbit. That's the only way to be sure.

Yeah, I'm not sure people understand what they are getting into when they buy a cell phone, much less smart phones. The convenience of having a communications device in your pocket means you give up some privacy. SOme of the snooping can be mitigated by not volunteering information (Oh yes please, Facebook, use my GPS to follow me all day long), but a lot of data is being aggregated about you by design.

I think I've said this before, but it was jarring when I activated my first smartphone and saw how much information it pulled down about me.  I still try to take some precautions regarding privacy, but I know it's a lost cause.

That's just the start of it. NSA whistleblowers claim that your cell phone provides the government every sound that hits the mic and every image that hits the cameras, even if the phone is off. It's the most gross violation of the Constitution they've ever pulled, and the courts have given them the green light. If the "terrorists" can nuke that new place they're building in Utah to store the data, along with nuking the politicians who came up with the idea and the courts that said it was OK, I'd vote for the terrorists in the next election. Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it, and our government is now no better than the Soviets, the East Germans, or any other tinpot dictator the world has ever seen; it is the greatest enemy we've ever faced.

My only hope is that we've already achieved security by... well.... not obfuscation, but maybe overabundance. There's just literally too much shiat out there to be of value if anybody gets their hands on it, because it's too much data to parse.

But that's probably wishful thinking.

Yeah. They wouldn't be collecting it if they couldn't sort thru it.

Cellphones are like cars.

I can't tell any of them apart.

This is really weird. No one in this thread (that I saw) has said anything about the iPhone being better, but those who don't like this Galaxy S4 feature or any other feature is immediately branded as an iFanboi. Is it possible to not like something from Samsung and also not like the iPhone? I don't know, maybe.

It's weird to see the reversal though. If I may generalize for a moment, the Android fanboys are acting now how the iPhone fanboys acted when the iPhone was new. Smugly superior. And for the exact same reason, too.

For decades, Apple was the underdog, and then they pulled ahead. The Apple fans really wanted to show off how the company they backed was now winning. Android looks to be pulling ahead with this and other recent releases, so now the Android fans are doing the same thing to the Apple fans.

Just some observations. Not trying to offend anyone.

Yet, sadly, it will. Partisans of any stripe are still partisans.

The new must- have feature on the S4 isn't it's ability to watch your eyes or the memory upgrade, but rather the IR Blaster.
Finally! A smart phone that can replace my small mountain of remotes!

/waiting for the US release of Premium Suite

 And seriously...
What's with all the "Apple vs. Samsung" penis waving? Nobody here gets a paycheck from these corporations, so it's kinda stupid to diss somebody else's phone just because you happen to own the other one.

Does "4G" mean you end up spending four grand on the phone and data plan?

I'm getting tired of all the hype surrounding smart phones.  The sci/tech section of my news page is always half full of smart phone stories.  Is there really that many people who buy a new phone every year?  Seems like an expensive hobby.
